Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHATTIE MAY McCLELLAND It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Hattie May McClelland on Saturday afternoon, September 6, 2014. Hattie was born on August 6, 1919 at Rochdale, Manitoba. She attended Rochdale School. She worked on her Uncle Ed's farm until he sold when the war broke out. Hattie went to Winnipeg to work at MacDonald Aircraft Factory during the war. In 1946, she went to work at the Crescent Creamery, like a good farmer's daughter. She loved dancing and attended all the Crescent socials. It was here she met William Ross and struck up a dancing partnership for life. They went dancing as many as three times a week, mostly old time dancing. Hattie and Ross were married on October 8, 1949. They were approaching their 65th wedding anniversary, October 8, 2014. Hattie and Ross had three sons, Douglas Earl, 1954, William Dale, 1955 and Wayne Robert, 1958. William Dale passed away at birth in 1955. Ross and Hattie bought a home in St. Vital in 1953. In 1957 they moved to a new home in Windsor Park. This was a great idea. They were the second family to move on to the Bay. They greeted all the new families as they arrived. As time went by, they had several parties and became great friends. One could only inspire to lead a life as full of love as Hattie's has been with friends from their Bay. She missed the many friends who had moved away. She a loving mother and wife. Her greatest joy was the 65 years with Ross, a large portion of which was spent dancing and travelling at every opportunity. Arrangements are being taken care of by Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. with funeral at 10 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014.

I went to school with Mrs. McClelland's son Doug. We "kids" spent many hours at Doug's house and were always welcomed (and fed!) by Doug's Mom and treated like one of her own kids. She was a loving Mom to all of us and I am so sad to hear of her passing too late to have attended her funeral. My condolences to Doug and Wayne and especially Mr. McClelland. She was a special lady and loving Mom and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. - Posted by: Jan Boux (Stech) ((friend of Doug)) on: Oct 01, 2014
