TRAVIS THOMAS LESLIE DAVIS Accidentally on Sunday, September 14, 2014 Travis died at the age of 27 years in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Left to forever cherish Travis' memory are his little daughter Kenzi; Kenzi's mother Kait Porth (and her parents Tim and Laurie); parents Helen Davis and Lyle Boyd; stepsisters Diane (Marc Payette) and Linda; niece Sophie Payette; grandparents Ed and Merle Boyd; half-brother Justin Davis; as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Tom and Marge Newstrom; Leslie and Kathleen Davis; half-brother Bradley Davis; and biological father Keith Davis. Travis grew up in St. James, mostly in the Crestview area. His smiling face, pleasant disposition and willingness to help anyone in need earned him many lasting friendships over the years, including their families. Travis would gladly give you the shirt off his back. His greatest love was his daughter Kenzi who is just over one year old. Travis was a very good father and had many plans for her future. His passion for hockey was shared by his parents and family, especially Grandpa N. who kept stats on every game he played from age five through to grade 12. Travis played for Deer Lodge, Assiniboia West, AA Canadians and finally the JT Piper Hockey Team. Many wonderful summers were spent at the lake at Spruce Sands where he made many lasting friendships. The Boyd family cabin was another favourite pastime with Grandma and Grandpa Boyd, family and friends. He loved working outdoors and learned brick-laying but preferred water and sewer and driving heavy equipment. Travis was employed for some years by Tallieu Construction but had been recently hired by Maple Leaf Construction. He had hopes for a long career with them. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. The family would like to thank the valiant effort made by the Winnipeg Paramedics, Firemen and Police who tried so hard to revive Travis and for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a Trust Fund set up for Kenzi Davis at Royal Bank of Canada, 3297 Portage Avenue at Parkhill Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The account number is 02147 5048368. The funds will be used to ensure Kenzi can enjoy such things as extra-curricular activities, sports and a future education, all of which Travis planned for his daughter. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com Travis touched the hearts of everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all.

Condolences & Memories (16 entries)

  • My fondest memories of Travis are of him cutting the grass for his Grandpa Newstrom on Sackville St. Tommy was so very proud of his hockey player. Travis always greeted me with a big hug and recently sent me a photo of his beautiful daughter of whom he was so proud. I pray for strength and peace as you all go thru this terrible time. - Posted by: Betker Family (Hockey friend and neighbour) on: Sep 22, 2014

  • Travis was a wonderful person and we have many fond memories of him during his summers at Spruce Sands. Our deepest condolences to his family. The Hammonds, Spruce Sands RV Resort - Posted by: Hammonds () on: Sep 20, 2014

  • Travis I remember when my mom used to babysit you and we would watch inspector gadget before school while eating our breakfast. You didn't like eating cereal so my mom would buy you those instant breakfast milkshakes. I was never allowed to have any because she bought them "special for Travis!" rest in peace stud, you will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Ashley Arnason (Friend) on: Sep 19, 2014

  • You came to visit us in Newfoundland when you were so young then we didn't see you for several years. We came to Winnipeg for a holiday and I remember taking you to the city park with us and you were running with your arms out like a little bird - you made us laugh so much. As you got older you were so involved in hockey and Grandpa never missed a game - you were the light in his and grandma's eyes. When I did see you again some years later, you were growing up but, you were always interested in your cousins, Mandy, Melanie, and Pamela, and what they were doing. You were so sweet and kind. You will be terribly missed by your mom and Lyle as well as your daughter, and so many more. However, we are sure that many open arms of loved ones who went before you have received you in heaven. We love you and will keep your memory in our hearts forever. - Posted by: Bob & Helen Newstrom (Aunt and Uncle) on: Sep 19, 2014

  • Dear Helen & Lyle, I just read about Travis and I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I can still see him as a little boy and was reminded how involved he was in hockey. It sounds like Travis grew up to be quite a wonderful man, father, and a son to be very proud of. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. - Posted by: Jo Ann Van Santen () on: Sep 19, 2014

  • We had an amazing run at life together, for first time parents it was definitly trial and error with us but we managed to do a great job. You were and always will be the love of my life, and I'll see you up there, maybe not soon but one day it will come when we can make each other laugh and giggle over the silly stupid insiders we had as a couple. You will truly be missed by Kenzi and I forever until we meet again. Love always and forever Kaitlyn Diamond Porth, and Kenzi Grace Christina Davis. - Posted by: kaitlyn porth (girlfriend) on: Sep 19, 2014

  • Travis entered our lives in the summer of 2002, at Spruce Sands and remained a family friend. When Kaitlyn and Travis started dating in 2012 we welcomed him into our family as a son and a brother until his passing. He was a ray of sunshine even on the cloudiest of days. He spent many family occasions with us in the last few years. His birthday of 2013 he decided he wanted to celebrate with a redneck theme, which even included all of us wearing billy-bob teeth, redneck loot bags and a redneck strawberry shortcake. He was loving, kind, generous always smiling and although he and Kaitlyn were going through a tough time as of late, he never stopped loving his girls. He left us on Saturday with love, hugs and kisses. We will never forget you Travis and every time I look into my granddaughters eyes, I will see you. Know that she will be taken care of and loved always. There are pictures of you all around her which she is constantly kissing (licking.) She also can take at least six unassisted steps and can say daddy now. Your girls as well as our entire family will always have you in their hearts and minds. Missing you greatly my son, until we see you again, love Mom. - Posted by: lori jones (Kenzi's grandmother and Kaitlyn's mother) on: Sep 19, 2014

  • Travis you have left so many amazing memories in each and everyone's heart you have touched. I couldn't have asked for a better person to live across. You were always there no matter what time what you were doing and so many fun times. I can't help but think of you and smile because that's all you have ever made anyone do. I pray for your family along with your fiancé and daughter. I know that you will be there with them every step of the way. I miss you and will continue to miss you until we meet again. My condolences love and prayers. Rest in peace baby angel - Posted by: Brittany anderson (Friend and neighbour ) on: Sep 19, 2014

  • Although we did not grow up together due to living in different provinces my cousin Travis was loved so much by us all. He was a beautiful person and I am sure touched many people in his life. I cannot believe he is gone and my thoughts are with my aunt Helen and the rest of our family. You raised an amazing man and that will reflect in his daughter forever. We love you. - Posted by: Melanie Newstrom (Cousin) on: Sep 18, 2014
