ROSE CATHERINE MOORE March 29, 1914 September 14, 2014 Peacefully on September 14, 2014, The Lord has called one of his angels from earth to be by his side in heaven. Rose Moore (Scalena) was born March 29, 1914 and was pre deceased by her parents ( Antonio & Domenica), brothers Giovanni (John), Anthony (Tony), Cadorna (Cod), Luigi (Lou), Alex, sister Mary, Husband Tom, and son Donald. She is survived by her sister Lorraine Baird, son John Moore (Gerry Clery), grandsons Darren Moore (Sheri), Graham Moore (Faye), Patrick Clery, granddaughter Gillian Moore, great-grand children Jamie, Damon, Taylor and Brianna. She has many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and countless other family and friends. Her early years were spent helping with family matters being the oldest sibling of a large Italian family. She had a very early connection to the church and spent much of her time with the Grey Nuns of St Boniface. With many years as an active part of the community, Rose had an affinity for numbers and over her life had oversaw the finances on many businesses. She spent most of her years with the St James Assiniboia School Division as secretary-treasurer and other positions. She was an active member of the John the XXIII Roman Catholic Parish which was her home away from home. When she wasn't busy helping the community she would be sewing (a master seamstress), baking, cooking and helping family and friends. In her moments of relaxation, which were few, she would be visiting friends and family praying or reading a good book. Her final years were spent at the Charleswood Care Centre. The family would like to thank the staff for their care and compassion through Rose's final years with us. A special thanks to her sister Lorraine for her love and devotion to her big sister through the difficult last years. Special thanks to Neil Bardal Funeral Centre. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns XXIII Parish, 3390 Portage Ave. Prayers will take place on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Johns XXIII Parish. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I miss you so much Rose, growing up as a only child, I only had one side of the family and that is the Moore side. The last of her days were too hard for me to see somebody in so much pain, not being able to talk and only being able to cry to communicate.I never kiss anybody, but I kissed her on the cheek before I left and said I love you and I'm going go miss you. That was one of the worst feeling I've ever had was to see somebody that you love,in so much pain. I know she was trying to say I love you back but she couldn't.. I miss you Rose and you'll be forever in my heart my soul and my mind at all times till the day I die. 🌹 - Posted by: Damon () on: Feb 25, 2018

  • Rose was an amazing, wonderful lady. She had a positive impact on all our family. She babysat for our three children for many years. Rose was a loving, caring babysitter and she quickly became a special friend. We all loved her dearly and we have many fond memories of her, including all the mending she loved to do. She truly was one of a kind. Anyone who knew her would know she was a woman of faith. We will never forget Rose. - Posted by: Lori and Tim Chimuk (Friends) on: Sep 18, 2014
