I met Mr. McKinley & his family on a journey with Mr. McKinley's niece Jeanne & a couple of other friends in 1976. The 4 of us girls were on our way across Canada in an old clunky van that we nicknamed "Cleo". I remember him treating us all to lunch. My memory is of a kind & gentle man. My sincerest condolences to the family. xo Maureen - Posted by: Maureen MacDonald (Friend of Mr. McKinley's niece, Jeanne) on: Sep 22, 2014

I still remember you hosting me in Elie on my cross country voyage to University in Ottawa. I have fond memories of Jim's easy going manner and grace. Many years have passed since then by I continue to remember you all in our prayers and especially at this time. - Posted by: Brian & Dominque McKinley (Nephew) on: Sep 22, 2014

I'd like to send my love along to Aunt Gerry, Rob, Barb, Val, Carol and families. I so wish I could be there but send along heartfelt thoughts and a couple memories. My first introduction to "cold soup" on the menu and consumed, was with Uncle Jim, having lunch at Eaton's. I recollect he had "pate" at the same meal, also new to me! To this day, I haven't really developed a taste for either!!! I also remember a "bed, shower, food AND mechanic" stop made to your home in Elie by myself with 3 girlfriends in tow. We were trekking across the prairies in "Cleopatra", my brother Don's blue & bright orange Van!!! One night (I'm sure unannounced) I think turned into about 3 nights as "Cleo" needed a number of repairs. I also recall the Scott and Jim McKinley families being together in Edmonton as Neil Armstrong was taking the first step on the moon!!! "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Wonderful memories....hopefully, these and the many others you created together as a family will help you all through the days ahead. Much Love, Jeanne - Posted by: Jeanne (McKinley) Pearson (Niece from Donalda, Alberta) on: Sep 22, 2014

Joyce and I were saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I look back at the many good years I spent at Eaton's with Jim. He was a great boss and friend. We always remember with great fondness the wonderful puppy "Chrissy" we received from Jim, who found the mother with several pups abandoned in a field near his home in Elie. Our sympathies go out to Geri and family. - Posted by: Alec and Joyce Parlin (Friends and Working Colleagues) on: Sep 22, 2014

Donna and I were saddened to learn of Jim's passing. As a business associate and friend he was not only intelligent, dedicated and trustworthy but in his serious and soft spoken manner he also cared and had a lot of empathy for others. He was a well liked and respected leader. Our condolences and thoughts go out to his family. - Posted by: Donna and Brian Laxdal (Business Associate and Friend) on: Sep 20, 2014

I will never forget the good times with Jim and I am thankful for having known him. Ever the gentleman, but for the occasional eruption on the golf course, Jim always looked on the bright side. In his own quiet and unassuming way, Jim achieved success in his career and his life beyond work. Our sympathies go to Geri and family. - Posted by: Keith & Mary Perry (Friends) on: Sep 20, 2014
