Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED MARIE LUCERNE SAWATZKY (ADKIN ) June 22, 1935 - September 14, 2014 After a brief illness Mildred passed away peacefully at Selkirk General Hospital. She will be missed by her son Michael {Denise), granddaughter Angela, sister Barbara King, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Mildred was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years Jacob, her parents William and Mildred, sisters Faith and Audrey, brother William. Mildred was born in Winnipeg, grew up in Teulon graduating from Teulon High School. After her marriage to Jake they lived an adventurous life moving to various communities North and West of home including The Pas, Thompson, Saskatoon, Rankin Inlet NWT, and Hay River NWT, finally settling down back in Teulon upon retirement. Mildred was an avid reader and had a huge collection of books but she also loved nature, gardening, flowers, feeding the birds and the many creatures around her country home outside of Teulon. Mildred also had a strong belief in God. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses she could be found {when health permitted) at her Kingdom Hall meetings, participating in her ministry, or enjoying warm association with her spiritual brothers and sisters. Her strong belief in the Bible's promise of a resurrection strengthened her and gave her hope for the future where she would live and see her dear dead loved ones again. Acts 24:15, Psalms 37:29 "The righteous will possess the earth and they will live forever upon it." The family thanks all the friends, family and neighbors that visited Mildred in her final days, your visits brought her great joy and lifted her spirits. We also thank the staff, nurses and doctors at Selkirk Hospital for their exceptional personal care making Mildred's final days comfortable. As per Mildred's request there will be no funeral only a private family interment. CROPO FUNERAL HOME 204-586-8044

I really loved my Aunt Mildred. She was a real lady. She was the best aunt -- a real pillar for me. No matter what was going on in my life she was always kind and supportive steering me in the right direction. A jolly laugh and a good twinkle in the eye as well as tons of good conversation over tea with the table properly set! A very keen mind....on our very last visit the last thing she said was that she wanted to be a "Polyglot"...I said, whats that and she said someone who can understand 5 different languages...she was studying various languages ...I thought it was a remarkable testament how we can fill our lives/minds to the last drop...this will help to remind me to be brave for days to come. On another visit a few years back (in times of better health) we came back to her home to find her dressed beautifully and listening to opera while busy at the dining room table. She was really enjoying herself...she loved her home and her music and plants and books...She was a kindred spirit! As a child I remember finding the Book - Anne of Green Gables on her shelf and I read it from cover to cover while staying with her. A memory I cherish. I can't wait (and it won't be long) to see her again in the coming Paradise earth as taught in the Bible. Trisha St. George, (niece) - Posted by: Trish St. George (Niece) on: Sep 22, 2014

I new Mildred for a long time. She came to Hodgson Manitoba and visited us many times. Then when she had her son Micheal and I had Travis they were little children together. I am sorry to hear of her passing. We visited a few times after Jake died. Our thoughts are with you Micheal and your family. - Posted by: Musa lien (Friend ) on: Sep 21, 2014

I am so sorry to hear of Mildred's death. She was the personification of the ideal friend. She was always willing to listen and share stories and tell the history of this area. She was a gentle person with a great sense of humour. She is going her Jake, the man in her life. Cherish the memories of 2 great parents who truly cared for their fellow man. - Posted by: Noreen Stone (friend) on: Sep 20, 2014
