ROBERT WILFRID LECOURS It is with broken hearts and many tears that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Robert Wilfrid Lecours on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at the Health Sciences Centre. Bob slipped away peacefully with his loving family by his side leaving behind to forever cherish his memory is the love of his life, his soul mate, his best friend, his wife and cruising partner, Jane. Bob leaves to mourn his loss two sons, whom he was very proud of, Andrew (Andy) and wife Joanne, grandsons Eric, Bryan and Evan, son Christopher (Chris) and wife Brenda, grandson Matthew, brother, Peter (Eleanor) nieces Laura and Alison, nephews Bill and Jeff and their families and special nephew Curtis and his family and special niece Arlene. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Isabel, Kay, Arlene and brothers-in-law John and Victor, special friend and former sister-in-law Linda plus numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Bob always loved to tell everyone that he was a "Xmas Baby" having been born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1934 at the Montreal General Hospital, spoiling his mothers Christmas dinner. Bob and Jane were married in 1975 and spent two years in Toronto before building a home in Woodlands where they spent many happy years with family and friends. He enjoyed 4 wheeling, ski-doing, wiener roasts on the lakefront, hunting with John, Vic and Bobby. Also the many summers spent with George and Georgette, Nicky and Bob at Twin Lake Beach where the card games went on into the early morning hours. In 2002 they moved to Winnipeg. Prior to his retirement Bob worked for Avo Marine where he was known to be called "Boat Show Bob" especially at Boat Show time, he loved working the show and talking to people. He enjoyed the marine business and continued to follow what was happening in the industry until the time of his death. He looked forward to Saturday morning breakfast at the "Sals" with Larry, Inez, Hans, Ralph and whoever else would join the regular crew. He always looked forward to the August long weekend and the annual trip to Brereton Lake to spend time with Rod and Neil and their friends at "the lake". Bob loved to read with a library full of books that he would gladly lend out to special friends such as Loretta and Harriet. He was an avid history buff and especially enjoyed travelling to Europe and vising Pompeii and Ephesus where he spent hours wandering through the ancient ruins. Travelling was one of the greatest joys of his life, cruising the world (Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia and China, the Baltic, British Islands, Mediterranean, South America, Hawaii, the Mexican Riviera and multiple cruises to the Caribbean, 35 in all) with his special friends Stewart and Loretta, Fletcher and Rose. A lifetime of great memories such as sipping champagne and orange juice with the kangaroos, eating shark burgers, the architecture of Gaudi in Barcelona, visiting the Heritage Museum in St. Petersburg, drinking "turkey wine", the Great Wall of China and countless other memories too numerous to mention. Every cruise was special and the memories will last forever. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the Emergency Department at the Health Sciences Centre and G4A wing of the main hospital for the care, compassion and dedication shown to Bob, especially Drs. Snider and Bhindi in the emergency department and Dr. Ainslie and Laura on G4A. To our "Angel" Norma who is the most wonderful nurse and caring person, thank you for the respect and dignity shown towards Bob in his final hours and thank you for your support during this difficult time, it is greatly appreciated by the family. Thank you to Dr. Stephen Coyle, his family doctor whom Bob enjoyed a special relationship with. According to Bob's wishes, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. Bob, we love you, we'll miss you and we'll never forget you. With all our love, your family Bob, my love, my life, smooth sailing, keep the beacon lit in the lighthouse and I will find my way to you so we can continue on our voyage together. - Jane www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I met Bob and Jane on my very first cruise in 2003. Bob definitely had a joie de vivre and I enjoyed dinners with both him and Jane. He is the reason that I climbed the Sydney Bridge when I took a cruise to NZ & Australia. I will miss his great smile and encouraging personality. - Posted by: Janet Forbes (Friend) on: Oct 09, 2014

  • Jane and family .... I was so very sorry to hear of Bob's passing from my brother Chris at Avo. Bob was such fun to cruise with! I will particularly remember the great times we had on our 2011 Hawaii cruise after we joined you as the "rebels" at late dinner seating. My thoughts are with you. Rest in peace Bob. - Posted by: Cathy Garski (Cruising buddy) on: Oct 09, 2014
