Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPHINE CYNCORE March 30, 1925 - September 24, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Cyncore at the Desalaberry District Health Centre on September 24, 2014. Josephine (Josy or "Jo" to those that knew her) was one of four girls and four boys born to Michael and Katey Franko near Sundown, Manitoba. She lived on the family farm until the age of 15, when she moved to Winnipeg to complete her education. These were the years of The Second World War and her first work was folding parachutes for the war effort. She later went to work at the King George Hospital until the war ended. In 1946 she married Julian, a veteran of the war. Together they made their contribution to the "Baby Boom" generation. First a girl (Gilda) and then a son (Dauwynn) arrived. 1953 saw them moving to St. Vital where Jo remained a resident for nearly 60 years. In the 1960s she began working in the garment industry until her retirement. Her days were now about going for walks (some with her dog ZuZu), coffee with friends, bowling and church activities. There were frequent trips to Gilda's home in the country where she was surrounded by dogs and numerous cats. "They all adored her" according to Gilda. The autumn of 2012 saw a change in circumstance for Jo when she moved into a personal care home. At this time we must thank the staff of the Heritage Life PCH for their care during her stay. Special thanks to the parishioners of St. Mary Magdalene Church who often visited her and brought her much joy. Josephine was predeceased by her parents and all her brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn her two children. A service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 3 St. Vital Road in Winnipeg on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Josy has had a big and positive influence on me in my childhood. We lived down the street from Josy and my mother often babysat Dauwynn when Jose worked. I spent many hours visiting with Josy and Dauwynn. We used to climb the tree in her front yard. I will remember Josy with fondness and admiration. Love you.
