Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION ELIZABETH MARKS (BETTY) April 7, 1929 - September 26, 2014 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandma and Great-Grandma, at the age of 85. She was preceded by her loving husband Alex, parents John and Sara Smeall and siblings George, Frank, Emmeline, Allan, John, Harry, Tom, Alice and Ogle. Her memory and spirit lives within her six children; Penny (Wayne), Randy, Debby (Gary), Cindy (Terry), Richard (Lee-Anne), Candace, one stepdaughter Carol (Chris), 10 grandchildren; Stacy, Kerry, Joe, Eric, Jennifer, Drew, Bryce, Madison, Rayne, Madeline and nine great-grandchildren; Anna, Ben, Norah, Camden, Hallie, Elizabeth, Grace, Ava and Mason. Mourning the loss of his dear sister is Howard Smeall of Trinidad, CO. Many others are also saddened by the loss of "Aunty Betty," who loved and treated each as one of her own. Mom was not afraid of hard work and doing what she needed to support her family. Of the many jobs she had, she particularly enjoyed working at the Victoria General Hospital, where she retired from after 25 years of service. Mom also worked at the Royal Canadian Legion (Fort Garry), and was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was generous and caring, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was quick to lend a hand to those in need. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Betty will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 830 North Drive, Fort Garry. Rev. Canon Geoff Woodcroft will preside. A private family interment at Waverley Memorial Gardens will take place after the service. The family wishes to thank the staff at Victoria General Hospital Floor 4 South, and in particular Dr. Heather Watson-Burgess for the care and compassion provided to our Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
