Alice spent her youth in St. Malo, Manitoba, but her adventurous spirit brought her to the big city'. She became a waitress at the famous Chocolate Shop, and then worked a few factory jobs before marrying Robert in 1956. She then stayed home to be a caregiver for her family, and at 50, became a VON home care worker to continue nurturing those in need. Alice valued her family and friends, and loved to spend time at the cottage where she could often be found soaking in the rays and people watching from her favourite chair on the front porch. Her broad, welcoming smile, sweet disposition, quick wit and easy laughter were endearing to all. She was known to always take pride in her appearance. She battled breast cancer in the late 1990s and 10 years later, dementia battled her. Mom had a desire to travel and always encouraged us to do it while we can'. Her biggest regret was never to have seen the Eiffel Tower, we are sure her spirit has already taken her there. The praying of the rosary, eulogy and slide presentation will commence at 12:15 p.m., followed by funeral mass at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday October 4, 2014 at St. Malo Church. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the wonderful and caring staff of Action Marguerite (Taché). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer Society Manitoba.
