LAWRENCE RUSSELL MONTGOMERY MARTIN
Born: Nov 17, 1940
Date of Passing: Sep 30, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory(RUSS) LAWRENCE RUSSELL MONTGOMERY MARTIN It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend Russell at the age of 73 on September 30, 2014. Russ was born on November 17, 1940 in Winnipeg and was predeceased by his parents Albert and Kathy. He is survived by his devoted wife Linda, daughters Debbie (Dave) Mutch and Tracy (Dave) McIsaac; grandchildren Kieren, Aislynn, Taylor and Jenna. He is also survived by his brothers Norman (Sharon), Ken (Jill), Terry and Paul (Caryn); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Linda may have been the love of his life but Russ' passion was definitely his business. For 51 years Russ was the proud owner of City Radiator Service here in Winnipeg. Russ' love for motorsports and cars culminated in the purchase of City Rad in 1963 and evolved into the formation of Universal Recovery in 1996. It also led to his induction into the Manitoba Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 2011. Russ made many friends through being a member of Meridian Lodge #140 starting in 1967 and a charter member of Seven Stars Lodge #180 around 1977. He was one of the founding members of the Winnipeg Motor Patrol and remained an active rider to this day. Russell could definitely be labeled as "a man for others", everyone came before himself. Always the father-figure with a huge heart, he was full of advice and was never afraid to tell things the way he saw them. He was a hard working, proud man who took pride in his home and family, especially his grandchildren. Over the years Linda and Russ enjoyed the time they spent together travelling to numerous places, especially the last several years where they spent their winters in Orange Beach, AL. Russ, Dad, and Grandpa we will treasure every moment we spent with you and miss you every second of the day. Memorial services to celebrate Russell's life will be held Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada Manitoba Branch, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
