RONALD ALLAN BOBBIE February 20, 1955 September 26, 2014 Sadly, Ron passed away on September 26, and is finally at peace. He was predeceased by his father John Bobbie, and is survived by his mother Pauline Bobbie, daughter Pharus Bobbie and grandsons Maks and Louis; brother Bill; sister Shirley and children Kerry and Kris; brother Ray (Jane) and children Kirt and Ryanne, brother Kevin (Cheryl) and children Brendan and Aaron. Ron was born in Winnipeg and grew up in East Kildonan. He graduated from Miles MacDonnell Collegiate in 1973. In junior and senior high, he and his huge group of friends gathered at Matt's restaurant on Henderson Hwy and they named their group of friends "Matt's Maulers". He was a charismatic guy, and took great care of his appearance. Everyone recognized him. After high school, he worked for Canada Post. He was a hard working, disciplined guy, and was the first one of his friends to own his own home. Ron was an active guy, who enjoyed playing fastball often as a pitcher, in the EK Fastball League and then in the Winnipeg Fastball League. He played hockey as well, and played in Canada Post tournaments in cities across Canada. Ron had lots of interests - he loved hunting and fishing with his brothers, friends and nephew. Ron also loved cars. He would often be found cruising around with the top down in his 68 Camaro and raced it at Gimli Drag Strip. He kept his dad's old car to this day and affectionately named the 54 Chevy "The Black Dragon". Ron really loved and respected his family. He loved and missed his father who died when he was still in high school, and could often still be found visiting his grave. He always found time to visit his mom right up to his last day. Ron was so proud of his daughter Pharus, and her two children, he loved them unconditionally. He lived to look after her. His close friends and people he would meet in his daily travels were able to see the real Ron despite his illness. He was loved, and will be missed. A celebration of Ron's life will be held on Friday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ron's memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

I met Ron in 2002. We were friends for years. I would affectionately refer to him as Pa. Ron was a wonderful loving man, who loved Pharus, his mother and family so so much! My heart goes out to Pharus in her grief. I did not find out about his death until years later seeing the inquest on the news from BC, I was shocked and heartbroken. Ron was larger than life. I love and miss him so much. Rest in the arms of the Lord Ron, I love you! - Posted by: Joey Wiebe (Friend) on: Jul 01, 2022

Hi Dad, I think of you everyday... As well my sons love looking at grandpa's picture collage we have now in my oldest son's bedroom. Maks loves looking at your pictures everyday. It sucks it's me explaining and not you but life takes from us when we least expect it too. However, I know your at peace and I will forever remember and love you always ❣️ you taught me good and bad and I try to make better choices and I think of you and the wisdom you shared from you good and bad times. Rest in Peace 🙏 - Posted by: Pharus (Daughter) on: Apr 15, 2022

I remember Ron, when my friends and I hung out at the City Centre. Never got to know him very well, but he was always fun. I always wondered what happened to his friend Lothar(?), don't recall his last name? If anyone knows, could you contact me please. It's nothing nefarious. - Posted by: Franca McQuiggin (Acquaintance ) on: Feb 10, 2020

I knew Ron back in the very early 1990's before and shortly after his daughter was born. We lost touch. I am sorry to hear of his passing. I remember him as someone who loved to have fun and a good laugh. My condolences. - Posted by: Linda Buckmaster (Friend) on: Nov 21, 2015

Underneath it all, a warm and funny guy. Happy to have known him all those years ago and to have called him my friend. - Posted by: Rick Fedorwick (Old friend) on: Feb 18, 2015

"Heh, Warren,..." he would start, and then go on about his latest beef...the odd time, a bouquet...as though he was speaking to the whole wide world. And, guess what, he was! When you're up there, Ron, hang about. It won't be long before I'm running the open-line program in the clouds! And you will be the first person on-the-air! Ron Robbie was one of my regular listeners (and callers!) during the 28 years I moderated The Action-Line on Radio Station CJOB. - Posted by: Peter Warren () on: Oct 22, 2014

Growing up in E.K. you couldn't help but know the Bobbies -great memories of Matt's and Roxy Park and the adventures that went along with that mischievous grin --- may the family take comfort in knowing he is at peace. Rest in peace my dear father. You showed me the most love anyone could ever show another person. You showed me morals and you gave me wisdom that I hope one day to teach my boys. You were my best friend and not just my father. You were my rock and my listener and I loved you dearly with my whole heart. You are in my heart forever and I will not ever forget the person you were. You wore your heart on your steeve and you always put me first before yourself. I will teach my boys they are important. You were always teaching me teamwork. You spent a lot of time with me actively and socially. You were proud to be my father and me your daughter. I love you my dear father and no one will ever replace you because you were one of a kind in my eyes and my heart. Love you and miss you everyday but please be at peace and rest. - Posted by: Pharus Pauline Bobbie (Daughter) on: Oct 12, 2014

I am saddened by this news and his passing. Ron and I had a really good connection and understanding at one time during those Fastball games and those summer season and years since. As we had shared many common friends back then. He would test me from time to time with a certain degree of intimidation involved during those days and seem to become closer to those who stood there ground to him and were with him who had the courage of character to do so. I'm glad to have passed his test as it had taught me something about myself. I'm also glad to have known him as a friend instead of his adversary. REST IN PEACE RON. - Posted by: Ken Jensen (Friend and team mate) on: Oct 04, 2014
