KENNETH LEROY PINCH May 10, 1934 September 25, 2014 Kenneth (Ken) Pinch left this world to join his beloved eight-year-old son, Christopher (1980), on September 25 at the Squamish General Hospital. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Faill), his daughter Linda (Kismet Lowrie) of Vancouver, daughter Karyn (Ingo Fanslau) and Ken's dear grandchildren, Anja, Kira and Anders of Brackendale, BC; his son, Keith Freeman of Winnipeg and children, Jacqueline and Keith Jr.; his sister, Irene Pinch (Laura Butler) of Thunder Bay, ON, sister-in-law, Iris Rogers of Oakville, ON; many relatives in Canada and the USA; and many much loved friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Hilliard and Bernice Pinch. Ken was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba May 10, 1934 and he and Pat moved to BC in 2005 to be near their daughters and grandchildren and where he pursued gardening with a fervor. His roses won first prize at the Brackendale Fair every year. Ken worked 25 years for the Province of Manitoba Municipal Planning Branch as a draughtsman but his accomplishments in life were much more ~ he was a cartographer, builder, perfectionist, prep chef, pilot, sculptor, tour guide, story teller, inventor, gardener and dreamer. Ken's greatest love was his family, he was so proud of all his children and grandchildren. Next to his family, his greatest role in life was with The Compassionate Friends, a Support Group for Bereaved Parents, where he helped many parents worldwide. He served the organization for 25 years. Ken and Pat were chapter leaders in Winnipeg and Ken was instrumental in the formation of the TCF National Organization where he served two terms as president. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Ken's life on Friday, October 10 at the Brackendale Art Gallery, 41950 Government Road at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory, would be greatly appreciated to The Compassionate Friends of Canada, 3153 Marion Way, Nanaimo BC V9T 3Z8 or to the Squamish Hospital Foundation, Box 763 Garibaldi Highlands, V0N 1T0. "The eternal flame of his life and love are the constant now..."

Dearest Pat, It is so hard to believe that it's more than 10 months since Ken closed his eyes for the last time to journey to the other side to join with and hug his most precious son, Christopher. I realize that grief comes in waves some days - 20 foot waves one day and other days 10 foot waves and once in awhile just a ripple; and never knowing what tomorrow might bring. In friendship I come with this thought - "Treasure your memories and honour them in your heart." Sending my love with warm fuzzy hugs, Adaline - Posted by: Adaline Leir (Friend) on: Aug 08, 2015

Our thoughts go out to you Pat and your family. We will always remember the patient way Ken helped us when we thought we could not go on after the death of our son. Getting involved with The Compassionate Friends and with you and Ken showed us the way to be somewhat normal again. You and Ken have helped a lot of parents get through some hard times and we are so grateful that you both were there when we needed you! Don & Sharon Gruhn. I am so very sorry to hear of Ken`s passing and send you all my condolences and deepest regrets. I will never forget the support, love and friendship given to us by Ken and Pat and the Compassionate Friends in Winnipeg when we were all struggling to come to some kind of terms with the loss of our precious children. I know there are many people who will be feeling as I do, for Ken gave so much in kindness and understanding to so many at a time when his family faced such irrevocable loss. He showed so many that "you are not alone" and together one can learn to live with one of the greatest tragedies that can happen to parents - the loss of a beloved child. My heart goes out to you all. With fond memories and much love, Margaret Taylor. - Posted by: Margaret Taylor (Friend) on: Oct 04, 2014
