Condolences & Memories (22 entries)

  • Thinking of you and your family Kris at this very difficult time. - Posted by: Donna Askew RN (Children's Hospital colleague to Kris) on: Oct 24, 2014

  • We never met Mark but his son Andrew cut our grass all summer and did such a good job that other neighbours wanted to hire him as well. We could hear Mark in the background, when Andrew called in response to our sign on the lawn looking for a grass cutter. Mark was so excited for Andrew! I said that I wouldn't forget his name, because my son's name was Mark as well. So sorry to hear of this tragic loss. - Posted by: Carol Tomes () on: Oct 21, 2014

  • Before meeting Mark I had numerous telephone conversations with him about the project we worked on. I instantly concluded that Mark was the guy I could trust both as an engineer and a person. When we met at KGS office in 2010 my good impression of Mark as a person was even stronger. He had a good sense of humor and I will miss it. I will miss Mark. His smile and laugh defined him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by all who met him. My sincere prayers and condolences to the family. - Posted by: Brian R. • I met Mark in 1976 in Junior High in Transcona - we went to High School, and pushed each other to do better than the other in Math - laughing all the way. We went to Engineering together at the U of M, but fell out of touch in 1986 when I moved to BC for university. Mark was a great guy - super smart, great athlete, and cool. • I will cherish my memories of that classic Labor Day weekend, Mark fit in instantly and was so much fun.The following 5 yrs we spent partying, developing our careers and starting our families, prenatal classes and sharing the excitement of having our first child as young couples in 1995 are vivid memories. Good times, my memories of Mark always smiling. Mark left his family way too early but I already see his strength living on in his children they are being so strong, I know Mark is smiling down so proud of them and of how his dearest Kris has stepped up to keep his smiling spirit alive in their home. Wishing I could ease your pain......My thoughts and prayers are with you all. - Posted by: Melanie Bernas (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2014

He was a consummate professional with high standards and attention to detail, the job had to be done right. His infectious can do attitude was energizing and got the best out his co workers. • THE YEARS AND PROJECTS, WORKING WITH A GENTLEMAN ARE ONLY KNOWN TO THE FEW THAT ARE LEFT TO BE CALLED GENTLEMEN. MARK WAS ONE OF THESE FEW GENTLEMEN, HE WOULD SEEK ADVICE WHEN HE WASN'T SURE AND GIVE ADVICE WHEN HE WAS SURE. ONE OF THE FEW ENGINEERS THAT SAID I DON'T KNOW IT ALL YET BUT I AM WILLING TO LEARN. HE WAS A FRIEND FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO TALK TO AND DEAL WITH. I WILL MISS THE TIMES WE HAD TOGETHER. AN EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF HOW A PERSON SHOULD LIVE HIS LIFE HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM US FAR TOO SOON. MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN - Posted by: JAMES PETKAU (FRIEND AND COLLEGUE) on: Oct 10, 2014
