DWAYNE HILLHOUSE (DOBBIE) It is with great sorrow that we announce Dobbie's passing on October 6, 2014 at his residence in Elmwood due to complications from C.O.P.D. He was born in Winnipeg on July 11, 1960 to Frank and Joan Hillhouse who both predeceased him. Left to mourn his passing are his brothers Christopher (Linda), Glen and sister Caroline (Marc) as well as his nieces Krislyn (Fil) and Victoria (Craig) and their children. Also mourning his passing is special friend and love Gail. Dobbie attended George V Elementary and Elmwood High Schools before beginning his career at Canadian National Railway at age 17. With 35 years in active service as a Conductor and the last two years unable to work due to disability he was just nine months shy of his official retirement. In his younger years Dobbie had a great passion for mechanics, billiards and fishing. He was very proud of his boat conversion and Master Angler Awards. While he enjoyed those interests he was most passionate about his love of dogs and in particular his beloved dog Furlough so named for Dobbie's seasonal layoffs or "furloughs" from work. Furlough is waiting for you Dob, Wag, wag. Honorary pallbearers will be Craig Hillhouse, Ron Andrews, Pete Luhowy, Harrison Nemez, Paul Remillard, Darren Nuebauer and all of his old Elmwood Buddies. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society, a pet rescue of your choice or the Manitoba Lung Association. A memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 14, 2014 at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 HENDERSON HWY 204-338-0331 Condolences may be sent to www.klassenfuneralhome.com

  • Thanks for making all those cold nights, hot days, and long hours on the road enjoyable Dwayne, you truly were a "brother" and will be missed. - Posted by: Bob Nelson (co-worker) on: Oct 17, 2014

  • I had the privilege of chumming with Dobbie and the gang in the 1980's. Many fond memories involve good conversations surrounded by music and laughter. Although time has passed I will always smile while thinking of yesteryears. It is with a saddened heart that I have heard of Dobbie's passing, way too early my friend. God Bless - Posted by: Arlene Prokopchuk (nee Schamberger) (friend) on: Oct 17, 2014

  • My sincere condolences to the family. I knew Dobbie in the late 70's and he was the most caring and kindest person I ever knew. Dobbie, you will be missed. - Posted by: Heather Dunlop legrand () on: Oct 11, 2014

  • Dobbie was a real salt of the earth kind of guy. I sold him my 72' Dodge Dart in about 1979. Before he bought it he wanted to try it out so we traded cars.....he gave me his old VW bug to drive and he took the Dart.....we reconnected on Facebook and exchanged many old stories. He had a great sense of humour and he'll be missed. - Posted by: Bruce Clark (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2014

  • A time to reflect on all the good times our "gang" shared together, Dobbie. We'll all do again one day.....Adios Amigo! - Posted by: Doug G. Perich (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2014
