ANNE FAWCETT (nee SOTAS) With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, baba and friend. After a courageous battle, on October 4, 2014, Anne passed away surrounded by her family. Anne leaves to mourn her beloved children: daughter, Gail (late husband Dale) of Courtenay, BC, daughter Lorraine (late husband Rheal) of Windsor, ON, daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Terrance Matthes of Winnipeg, son and daughter-in-law Howard and Aletha Fawcett of Brandon, MB, daughter and son-in-law Jean and Gerald Roch of Winnipeg. Anne also leaves to cherish her memory 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Anne was a wonderful baba, aunt and friend. For those who knew her as Aunty Anne, she will be remembered as someone who was a fabulous cook, who was full of fun and adventure and who made room at her table for everyone. Anne had a wonderful ability to make everyone, within her sphere, feel loved and welcome. Anne was born November 20, 1921, in Rossburn, MB. As a young woman Anne moved to Windsor, ON for several years and returned home to care for her parents. Later, she met the love of her life, Stan, who predeceased her in 1995. Throughout her life she was employed in a variety of occupations in the service industry. Anne's happiest days were spent raising her children. Mom was a woman who was truly devoted to her family. She instilled in everyone the meaning of caring for one another. She truly believed and modeled throughout her life "You are your brother's keeper!" In her final days, Anne told her children, "I have lived a wonderful life and have no complaints". She was grateful for being included in everyone's life. The wonderful family times at 85 Watt Street, West Hawk Lake and most recently at the family cottages at Lake of the Woods will be cherished. The family wishes to thank Dr. Catherine Smith, Dr. Shaun Thomas, the St. Boniface Emergency Department and the incredible health care team of 5E at St. Boniface Hospital. A private family celebration will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anne's name to the Salvation Army, Winnipeg Harvest, or a charity of one's choice.
