GEORDIE AQUARIUS JAMES DONOVAN CARTER
Born: Oct 12, 1969
Date of Passing: Sep 17, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORDIE AQUARIUS JAMES DONOVAN CARTER Geordie Aquarius James Donovan, son of Thomas James Carter and Marilyn Eva Bahry, left this physical plane on September 17, 2014. He was surrounded by his parents and stepmother, Linda Carter, from his diagnosis until his final breath. There were so many of us that were not ready for him to leave us: Marilyn (David); Tom (Linda); his two sisters Krista Rutledge (Wayne) and Talia Weisz; his maternal grandmother Josie Bahry; many aunts, uncles and cousins; ex-wife Erin Mulrooney; and so many friends, extended relatives and neighbours whose lives he also touched. Geordie's life needs to be summarized in as an eclectic manner as he lived it. Born on October 12, 1969, he followed his parents' philosophy of the 60s: peace, love, simplicity and creativity. From reading magazines and newspapers at age five to constantly questioning absolutely everything to chess champion in elementary school to "push-the-limits" teenager to compassionate adult. He never acknowledged and was very humble about his own talents. His passion, his dream, was music. "Diz" left Winnipeg for the bright lights of Vancouver in 1992 where he planned to continue his musical career. He was in a number of bands over the years and played guitar, bass, drums and keyboards. He was most noted, however, for his brilliant guitar work, his singing and his amazing song writing. When he left us he was working on a new album with his dear friend, David Collier. Yet he always dedicated himself to his "day job". Co-workers and clients were all very significant to him. Illness took his brilliant mind and body but his spirit and soul will never be contained. A gathering to celebrate Geordie's life will be held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB. on Saturday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. with interment to follow. "Good bye my beautiful boy."

We want to send our sincere condolences to Geordie's family. We are sadden to read of his passing. We had lost contact with Geordie when he moved, but we will always have fond memories of him from our teenage years. My twin sister Angie & I (George) met Geordie when we were 13 in a downtown record store. What we remember most about Geordie was his passion for music which we all shared. We were always talking about had we heard of this band or that band. Showing off our latest record purchases. Asking each other as to what gigs we were going to go & see on the weekend. We did see Geordie play numerous times in his band The Snoids & Menudo. He was always entertaining to watch hamming it up on stage. Just the other day my fiancee purchase the new Billy Idol biography book Dancing With Myself for me. I had placed the book onto my coffee table next to Geordie's obituary when I glanced over it dawn on me it was Geordie who introduced Generation X (Billy's 1st band) to me in his Father's living room. The 1st track I heard was the title to the book. It was a full circle moment for me & 32 years in the making. I also briefly dated Geordie when I was 14 & he was still 13 though we are both born in the same just months apart. I thought he was super cool sporting a No.1 bristle crop with a long curly blonde tail at his nape. He wore thick black eyeliner & purple eyeshadow. He donned a fedora, a black trench coat & combat boots. As a rebellious teenager myself Geordie style & love of music fit the part. Even though the relationship ran it's short coarse we remained friends. What we will remember most about Geordie was his love of music & he was a gifted musician able to play many instruments. His love of films & always enjoying having a good laugh. We are very sorry for your loss. RIP Geordie. - Posted by: George & Angie Cook (friends & George was a brief girlfriend) on: Oct 17, 2014

Will always remember how cool he was in jr high. I was always too shy to talk to him, but have remembered his funky blond hair and his skateboard. His courage to live life and be himself is an inspiration to everyone. Now Geordie is in a new place inspiring even more people, even those of you who didn't know him personally. - Posted by: maria (Saw him at school and around neighborhood ) on: Oct 17, 2014

I was brought in to the Snoids by a my friend Ron who was playing with Geordie and Dave, to be the bass player. What I remember about the first jam was that Ron was pretty serious, and Dave and Geordie were having a lot of fun, just boundless energy, and I couldn't believe a 16 year old could beat the crap out of his crappy kit (I think it was a snare and a stand up bongo) with so much enthusiasm. Just non stop. We found a common ground in the Misfits, and Kiss, and played every one of their songs that we knew. We hit it off. Soon I was in on guitar, and Ron was out. Geordie would do anything on stage, he had absolutely no fear. Whether it was wearing a dress, or just being goofy, but did it with tons of energy. I just watched us on Alternative Rockstand, and he was constantly mugging for the camera, and playing really well. He was really good, and creative even back then. Just a natural. It's kind of funny that after all these years, it was probably the most fun I had in any of my bands. I ran into him about 10 years ago (could have been more, as time seems to move faster the older you get) and he was really upbeat, and said that all he did nowadays was play guitar. It was really good to see him. "We're gonna miss you.......Caaaptain Threeeee Deeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! - Posted by: Andy Siveri (band mate from the Snoids) on: Oct 16, 2014

Geordie and I met back in 1984 through Dave collier who I was already friends with for about a year. At that time, they were just forming the Snoids and I was just forming the Brain Surgeons and asked them both if they'd like to join my band to which they declined as they had their own ambitions for what they wanted as I had mine. We became well acquainted with each other as both the Snoids and the Surgeons shared a few bills together and the same mutual admiration for each others bands, Geordie was a fun loving, unpretentious, no holds barred kind of guy and that's where I could relate to him and Dave because mutually we all agreed that everything you did had to come from the heart and we all treated our music with the attitude of "Be Yourself". The last time I saw them was in 1991.By that time,I had been fronting Human Reverb for 4 years and they had just formed Sweet 16 and we ended up on the bill of a biker festival together on the same evening. That was the last time I saw Geordie but my memories of him are as plain and as fond as Yesterday and he will be greatly missed. I was so sad to hear of your sons passing. I know it's been years but the last time I saw you Tom, you spoke so proudly of Geordie and his talents. Dizzy, Dave and Steph chose me to be their second drummer. We played, jammed, recorded and partied in that crazy Boogie house in New West along with Peggy, Shawn, Bobbi, Wendi, Brad and Terry (first drummer). Thanksgiving was special because we celebrated 3 birthdays, including Geordie's. The cleanup lasted for a week LOL. Our biggest moment occurred when we landed the part as a rock band in Jackie Chan's blockbuster "Rumble In The Bronx". Dizzy and the rest of us are now immortalized on Netflix. Dizzy and Dave gave me my nickname, Johnny Boogie, which is now my stage name. Geordie will be with me and Steph for the rest of our lives. - Posted by: Johnny Seguin (Johnny Boogie) (bandmate (2ndcdrummer of Sex Bomb Boogie later Ritual)) on: Oct 12, 2014

Geordie was my trainer at Money Mart back in the day, and not only taught me the ins and outs of my job, but he made it easy, fun, constantly offered me great advice and encouragement, always made me feel valued and respected, and we had a ridiculous amount of laughs together. I was grateful to have met him, to have worked with him, to have attended his and Erin's wedding, and to have considered him a friend, even for a short while. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones. - Posted by: Lynda Daneliuk (Co-worker, friend) on: Oct 12, 2014

Geordie really inspired me musically and artistically in junior high school. He introduced me to The New York Dolls and Mohawk hair cuts. I was a few years younger than him at that "difficult" age and he was always encouraging and showed the rest of us how to push the boundaries of what we could do. Rest in Peace Geordie. - Posted by: Jason Eastwood (old school friend) on: Oct 12, 2014

Geordie and I met in high school, he was one of my best friends, he was always there for me, no matter what. He taught me how to drive a standard and was very patient with me, even though I was terrible. I loved every afternoon I hung out with you Geordie . You will be forever in my heart.
