Lorne was 93 years old and resided in Victoria the last few years of his life. For his final 16 months he was cared for by the wonderful people at Mount Edwards Court Care Home. Lorne was born in Toronto on June 5, 1921. He is survived by his devoted wife, Helen and their six loving children, Patricia (Pat), Margaret (Lorne), Michael (Kira), Mary Kathleen, Deborah and David (Janis). Helen Margaret Morrison and Lorne Albert Gazley were married in Moncton, NB on May 17, 1947 and resided with their family in many cities in Canada and in Germany. Their grandchildren are David and Laura; David, Ashley, Jordan and Taylor; Jennifer, John Michael and Leslie; Jason, Stephanie and Trisha; and Matthew and Samantha. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF). Lorne graduated from medical school in 1952 and began a military medical career in which he rose to the rank of Colonel. After retirement from the Armed Forces in Winnipeg in 1972, he devoted his medical talents as a general practitioner and surgeon to the people of Winnipeg at the Charleswood Medical Clinic and Grace Hospital. Helen and Lorne moved to Chilliwack in 2000 and then to Victoria in 2012. They spent many happy days at Tarpon Springs in Florida and in retirement with friends and family in Chilliwack. Lorne was an avid golfer and sportsman and kept up with his medical books into his later years. At his age, Lorne was predeceased by many of his friends and colleagues. Although his body became tired, his spirit was strong to the end. He maintained a remarkable memory for events, places and people as well as the names of all those he came in daily contact with. A private family service in honour of Lorne's life was held in Victoria. Lorne will be laid to rest in Chilliwack at a future date.
