BERNICE F. MUIR Bernice's struggle following her stroke in January ended on October 13, 2014 in Gimli. We remember a remarkable woman who lived her life well!! She was 91. Mom inspired many with her caring, generous, and optimistic ways, her independent and courageous spirit, her devious sense of humour, her hospitality and her dedication to her family and friends. Predeceased by husband, Ian in 1996, she is survived by her three children David (Trish), Ruth Gibson (Ted) and Jim (Claudette), her grandchildren and spouses: Josh, Lindsay and Graeme Gibson, James Muir, Carrie and Adam Nielsen, seven great-grandchildren, a niece and nephews. Our family wishes to thank Mom's many friends, the Johnson Memorial Hospital and Betel Home for their care and support. In accordance with Mom's wishes her body was donated to the University of Manitoba Medical School. A Celebration of her Life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

I send my wishes of light and comfort for the family of Bernice, a remarkable woman who I knew through my Aunt and Mom. I will always smile to remember Bernice opening her door to me at her home at Ponemah Beach in June of 2011 when I was driving through to Ontario after Jean's passing. We had a great visit together. What a special woman, with charm, humour and such a caring heart! I had a feeling she was in spirit so looked and found this tribute to her. Blessings on her family! - Posted by: Lynn Thompson (friend through my Aunt Jean and mother Lois) on: Mar 08, 2015

Bernice and I were Wireless Operators at #6 Group Headquarters during WW2. We have been friends since 1943 and I will miss her terribly. There are not many of us left. I am 91, like Bernice, and we kept in touch until she had her stroke. My husband and I knew Ian as well. All of us served in the Air Force. Deepest sympathy to all her family. I share your sorrow. - Posted by: Alison MacKenzie nee Sparks (RCAF Women's Division) on: Oct 27, 2014
