Date of Passing: Oct 27, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAE DENNISON Mae Dennison (Mom) passed away peacefully at age 87 on October 27, 2014 with her son Bob and his family by her side. Mom leaves to mourn her passing her nine children: Bill Clouston, Jim Clouston, Eunice (John) Beckett, Joe (Sue) Lambert, Bob (Pat) Lambert, Shirley Hares, Jean (Larry) Barstad, Fred (Karen) Dennison and Heather Dennison. Also mourning her passing are her brothers Rod McPherson and Malcolm McPherson, her sister Irene (Ernie) Bourgeois and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mom is predeceased by her parents William and Mina McPherson, brothers John and Ross, sisters Elsie and Margery, daughter-in-law Mary Clouston, son-in-law Ken Hares, her three husbands and grandchild Bobby Clouston. Mom was born July 2, 1927 near the small town of Roseisle, Manitoba. Mom told many stories of her childhood. We all knew the story of how she could no longer stand the taste of watermelon after she and a school mate took watermelons from a family garden and ate it every day one summer. Mom's life was not an easy one at times. She had her first child at age 18 and her last child at the age of 41. She started out in Roseisle with her first husband, Campbell Clouston. Her second marriage to Robin Lambert saw her move to Winnipeg where they stayed until his death in February 1959. She remained in Winnipeg and married Don Dennison in December 1959. In addition to being a homemaker, Mom also worked a variety of jobs from the Old Dutch chip factory to Furgale Broom to Interior Drapery before finishing her working years with Winnipeg Drapery where she retired at age 65. She babysat her grandchildren Samantha, Dylan and Zachary for a few years until she decided to move to Carman, Manitoba. Mom felt safe in the smaller town, where she became a member of the Legion and participated in many of their functions. In the last few years, Mom's physical health kept her from doing the things she enjoyed like visiting with her children in the city and taking trips to Seven Clans Casino with her daughters. She moved to Boyne Lodge and was a resident there until her passing. The family would like to thank the staff at Boyne Lodge for taking care of Mom these last few years. Somewhere in my heart, beneath all my grief and pain, is a smile I will wear at the sound of your name. Go now in peace Mom. Your departed loved ones are waiting. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, Manitoba. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Joe Clouston, Rick Clouston, Tyler Lambert, John Beckett, Dylan Barstad, Lucas Barstad and Zachary Hares. Public viewing will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Private interment will take place. If friends desire, donations may be made to Boyne Lodge in Carman, Manitoba or to charity of your choosing. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
