ARTHUR PHILIPP WIRTH
Born: Jan 23, 1934
Date of Passing: Oct 26, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryARTHUR PHILIPP WIRTH It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather on October 26, 2014. Arthur Wirth of Selkirk, formerly of Belair, and prior to that Winnipeg, was born in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan on January 23, 1934. He married his sweetheart Susan (From) Wirth of Spy Hill, Saskatchewan on January 22, 1955 and moved to Winnipeg. They celebrated 59 years of marriage; it would have been 60 years in January. Art left the farm and moved to Winnipeg where he worked for a trucking company. Shortly after that he began working for J.H. From Landscaping. He worked there for many years before starting a successful business, Perfect Landscaping, with his son Ryan. He was happy when his son Sheldon began working with them too. Arthur will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two sons and daughter: Ryan (Leslie) Wirth, Charlene (Harry) Hubatka, Sheldon (Marian) Wirth, all from Winnipeg. Also left to remember him are his six grandchildren, Steven (Kirsten) Wirth; Michael (Michelle) Wirth; Stacey (Chris) Besser; Jamie (Weronika) Hubatka; Danae Wirth and Halle Wirth and his eight great-grandchildren, Ryan Wirth, Riley Wirth, Logan Wirth, Dexter Wirth, Reese Wirth, Calie Besser, Caden Besser, Kiera Hubatka. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Philip Wirth. He also leaves to mourn his sisters: Helen Anning, Lil (Bruce) (Culham), Joyce (Bill) Herd and brother Eddie (Gloria) Wirth. Arthur's greatest treasures were his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arthur was a hard- working, strong, loving person who always enjoyed a good laugh. Arthur and Susan enjoyed camping when they had the trailer and loved to travel, visiting many different places. He was talented at woodworking and made many projects. He always enjoyed being outdoors at the lake. He enjoyed boating, skidooing and berry picking. He had a special fondness for the family dogs, always giving them lots of treats and attention. In retirement Susan and Art enjoyed many years at their cottage in Belair, MB. Their door was always open to family and friends who spent many good times together. Our family could not have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devoted father and gave us so many wonderful memories that we'll cherish forever. We love you and will miss you. Special thanks go to the staff at Selkirk Hospital for their kind and excellent care. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice in memory of Arthur. A celebration of Art's life will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street on November 1, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 204-586-8044

My grandpa was a really great man. I remember going quadding with him at their cabin. The helmet was too big for me but I wore it anyway. I was all dressed up in my winter parka and snow pants. He took me for a ride around the cabin on a trail he made and maintained. It was alot of fun. I have many great memories at their cabin. Whether it was visiting them, or a family get-together, it was always fun. I remember playing badminton with my grandma and grandpa for many summers, bringing grandpa my grandma's homemade cookies. Mmmhmm she made the best cookies and he loved them just as much as me. Even more than that, he loved his family. I love you so much grandpa I will miss you. <3 - Posted by: Danae Wirth (Granddaughter ) on: Dec 02, 2014

Sue...everytime I make a cinnamon bun, I think about you and Art at the Black Forest Store. We loved your company, and you were the nicest couple any one could have the pleasure of having to call friends. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope we can see you again soon. When I was landscaping with Art back in the late 1970's I was maybe 16-17 yrs old And it was at the end of a hot sunny Winnipeg Day in St James and we had been doing a sodding of a extremely long boulevard and there was a lot of equipment at this site and the company needed to get a partly loaded dump truck and with a trailer with one Thomas loader on it back to the Henderson Highway locale now that this job site in St James was completed ..and also some of the crew needed rides home... I was shocked that Arthur said Well David can drive the truck.. right David He said ... now Arthur had that grin of his on his face that was his trademark ..I said sure I can .. Ryan looked less convinced But That grin of his dad's seemed to win him over .. And I never drove a dump truck pulling a loaded trailer before..... But Arthur knew that ..but he instilled confidence in me so I drove and shifted gears didn't wreck anything all across the city driving that loaded dump truck the Thomas loader on the trailer and two crew guys That was thanks to Art believing in me without hesitation .. I will and have always remembered that day it taught me just believing in someone gives them the ability to do things they never think they can do .. I have used this with others many times in my life I can thank Arthur Wirth for that ...I wish I would of told him this .... - Posted by: David Massie Douglas (Arthur's son Ryan is my brother in law) on: Oct 29, 2014

My heart goes out to Sheldon, Ryan, and the rest of your family. I didn't see them a lot but Mr. and Mrs. Wirth were always very welcoming when I did. Mr. Wirth would go out of his way to shake my hand and say hello. RIP. - Posted by: Scott DeVisser (Family friend) on: Oct 29, 2014
