Throughout her career at MPI, she completed several university certificate programs and last year obtained her NIDMAR designation. She progressed through various positions in the corporation, culminating as senior case manager. In her role as a senior case manager, Leanne's caring and compassionate nature allowed her to comfort and support individuals and their families impacted by serious and catastrophic injuries. Leanne was actively involved with the MGEU, as well as, many corporate charitable initiatives including United Way, Operation Red Nose and Christmas hampers. Leanne was very proud of her Icelandic heritage. She volunteered many years with the Islendingadagurinn and was a long-time member of the Icelandic National League - Selkirk Chapter Bruin, where she was known as the ponnukokur queen. Leanne also enjoyed the annual preparation of rulapylsa. Leanne touched the lives of many co-workers and friends. Her hardy laughter will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Above all, the most important thing to Leanne was her family. She was very involved in her children's activities and took great pride in their achievements. Family gatherings were of great importance. She looked forward to planning the next holiday and decorating home and office. A service to celebrate Leanne's life will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home in Selkirk, Manitoba. I have many fond memories of her and her participation in my sister Dawn's many Bark at the Moon celebrations. Leanne was always the first to say yes to the date and the first to arrive. I will remember her laughter and smile, along with her enduring energy to have fun. She always wanted everyone to have the best time and put as much energy into the party as the host.
