PAUL DOUGLAS FRANCIS March 11, 1942 - November 5, 2014 We are saddened to announce the passing of Paul Douglas Francis on November 5, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer. He went peacefully, surrounded by his devoted family. Paul was predeceased by Dorothy, his wife of 28 years, his mother Irene, father Gerald, sisters Violet, Mary, Margaret and Barbara. He is survived by his loving partner June; son Cory (Megan), granddaughters Maya and Adyson; son Gerry (Tanya); daughter Holly (Mike); brother Al (Linda); sister Nina, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Paul moved to Winnipeg in 1955, often returning to Nova Scotia to spend the summer. Paul always considered Yarmouth home and it held a special place in his heart. In 1980 Paul opened an automotive and industrial fasteners company, Search All Distributors, which he operated until his retirement in 2001. A man of many interests, he most enjoyed fishing, classic cars, electronics, numerous collections and especially landscaping and relaxing in his beautiful backyard. Paul's greatest enjoyment in life was people, and he collected friends wherever he went. If you could tell or take a joke, you had a friend for life. Paul's laughter and smile will forever be missed. Please join us in a celebration of his life at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. In lieu of flowers, a donation to CancerCare Manitoba in Paul's memory would be greatly appreciated. • My condolences to June, Cory, Gerry, Holly and all your family. I always remember Mr. Francis as a warm and loving man with a wonderful smile on his face. Even if Holly and I were wreaking havoc at the hockey rink when we were young. When I fell off the zamboni ice pile behind Roland Michener, Mr. Francis was the first one to pick me up and tell me everything would be okay. His gentle soul will be missed. My prayers are with all of you. - Posted by: Jennifer Peterson (friend of Holly) on: Nov 14, 2014

The Francis family have always been Special to me and the memories will linger forever. • I had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Paul over the years while growing up next door to his parents, Gerald & Irene, and sister Barb. Like all the Francis’ several things come to mind when I think of Paul - laughter, love and the ability to make others feel special. I will definitely cherish the memories of all the time that I spent next door with Paul and his incredible family. The sound of his deep booming laugh is ringing in my ears right now! Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time Cory, Gerry, Holly, Al, Nina, June, and the rest of the family. - Posted by: Tim Mushey (Friend of the family) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • The Johnson family in Nova Scotia send their condolences to June and the the Francis family. Bruce and I had a fantastic time when we were out to visit everyone two years ago. It was like we were home again with family laughing and telling stories. Paul and June took care of us and Paul drove us everywhere to see the sights. We laughed all the time and Paul always had a story to tell us. I know he will be missed, but he will be remembered in our minds when we talk about the old days, or tell a joke. - Posted by: Stephen Johnson (Cousin) on: Nov 09, 2014

  • Paul and I spent many of our teen-age years running the Teen-cateens at the Earl Grey Community Centre... We were there when Elvis first appeared on record.. The Platters.. Little Richard.. Paul and I went our separate ways into adulthood.. Met Paul again at the Salsbury House in Transcona about 10 years ago... we always meant to meet once more for a coffee... However I got ill and we didn't see each other again. Paul was a wise young man when I knew him and I've always missed his friendship over the years... God bless you my friend and I'll seen you soon. - Posted by: Gary Okopski (old friend 1955 -) on: Nov 09, 2014
