HUGH SIGURSTEIN SIGURDSON May 12, 1939 November 11, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh at the age of 75, husband of Marilyn, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He passed surrounded by his family, a room filled with love and laughter. Hugh was born on May 12, 1939 at the family home sharing the spotlight with his twin brother Jim. He married Marilyn in 1960 his wife of 54 years. He and Marilyn resided in Riverton until 1968 at which time they purchased a home in Hnausa where they raised their children. He had many good times with his family whether it be at the kitchen table or sitting on deck. He made many trips through Hnausa insuring everything was as it should be. He was often referred to as the Mayor of Hnausa. He spent a majority of his working career in the logging and road construction industry. In his retirement years he spent many hours in his workshop creating countless birdhouses, windmills and other inventions, works that he took great pride in. He enjoyed time fishing summer and winter and was always happy to have someone join him. He leaves to mourn his wife Marilyn, children Kevin (Anna), Crystal, Kendall (Sheila), Cynthia, Daphne (Bruce) and Donna ( Brian). Extended family Chris (Lisa) and Steven (Shauna) O'Neill. He also leaves to mourn his grandchildren and great-grandchild who lovingly referred to him as Grandpa, Chicken Pa, Grumpers, or Grandpa father. Grandchildren Cierra, Adam, Bryce, Quinton, Mackenzie, Mitchell (Krista), Kirby, Riley, Brenna, Asia (Ryan), Rachelle, Nathaniel, great-grandchildren Brody, Chase, Tatum, Tucker, Chloe, Deegan, Skhyler, Emma, and Isaac. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Betty Thompson and Pauline Wowochuk A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 2:00 p.m. at the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church with Pastor Stan Richards officiating. The family would like to thank the IRHA Paramedic staff and the staff of the Arborg Hospital.
