FAITH CAROLYN (REMPEL) REIMER July 8, 1944 - November 20, 2014 Faith Reimer passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family. She is survived by Art, her loving husband of 48 years, her sons Kelly (Nancy Janelle) and Kent (Melanie, nee Perkins) and grandson, Weston, all of Winnipeg. Also surviving are her sisters Shirley (Don McLean) Penner of Calgary, AB, Joyce (Marvin) Warman of Burbank, CA and their families; her in-laws: Beverley Penner of Steinbach, MB, Ron Castle of Kansas City, MO, Ted (Mary Beth) Reimer of Holland, MI and their families. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Rev. Henry and Amanda Rempel, her parents-in-law, Bertha and Leonard Reimer and her in-laws, Barbara Reimer, Marcia (Reimer) Castle and Jim Penner. Faith was born in Saskatoon, the second of three daughters. In 1953 the family moved to Steinbach. Faith always had a love of music and studied piano and music theory from early childhood. She obtained her ARCT Performance in 1970. Faith devoted herself to her students, many of whom achieved significant success. For many years Faith accompanied choirs, musical groups, soloists and instrumentalists in competitions, examinations, performances and recordings. Faith was very active in church music, beginning in her early years and continuing until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Faith was involved in professional organizations including the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers' Associations, the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers' Association and the Winnipeg Branch of MRMTA, serving as president of both the MRMTA and its Winnipeg Branch. Faith's travel life began in 1963-1964, when she studied piano in Detmold, Germany. She and Art travelled extensively in North America and visited more than 50 countries on six continents. Nothing was more important to Faith than her family. Her sons, Kelly and Kent, were the focus of her life and she was so pleased when they brought Nancy and Mel into the family. The addition of grandson Weston provided immeasurable joy. The love and caring which they provided during these last months were vital to her remaining courageous. Faith had an indomitable spirit that carried her through many health challenges. Faith faced her final journey with courage, peace and love strengthened by the many prayers of friends and family. The family were the beneficiaries of her spirit. The family thanks the many people who cared for Faith these past months. Dr. P. Daeninck, Tracy and the dedicated and compassionate staff at Health Sciences Centre, CancerCare, St. Boniface Hospital, HomeCare, Palliative Care and Grace Hospice; Pastors Wilma Wiens and Stephen Murphy and the Grace Bible Church family; our extended family, friends and neighbours.
