MARIA-GRAZIA COLOSIMO (nee TRUNZO) May 22, 1931 - December 2, 2014 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria-Grazia Colosimo, at River Park Gardens Personal Care Home, at the age of 83. Left to honour and cherish her memory is her husband of 56 years, Giuseppe (Joe) Colosimo, daughters Carol (Frank) Manfredi and Vicky (Saheel) Zaman, grandchildren Connie, Angelo, Zack and Aliyah, as well as her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In heaven waiting to greet Maria-Grazia are her parents, Beniamino and Vittoria, her sisters and their husbands, Tommasina (Antonio) Pasqua, Genoveffa (Fortunato) Cuda, and her brother, Mario Trunzo. Grazia was born in San Mango, D'Aquino, Catanzaro, Italy and truly lived up to her name. She was the epitome of grace, kindness and generosity. Her bravery and selflessness led her to immigrate to Winnipeg in 1961 with only her love of her family to guide the way. Grazia shared that love and warmth with many young children in the Italian community as their babysitter. She maintained very special bonds with each of them throughout their lives - everyone really loved Zia Grazia. Then, despite her language barrier and naturally shy demeanor, she got a job preparing salad at Eaton's Grill Room Kitchen and years later, took a courageous leap of faith into Country Style Donuts with her husband. Grazia had many passions and took pride in baking and tending to her garden. She loved to share her taralli, bread and vegetables with neighbours, family and friends. But her greatest joy was her family and we could not have asked for a more wonderful wife, mother and nonna. Her beautiful legacy will live on in all of our hearts. Joe and Grazia were a very hardworking and committed couple who stood by and supported one another through every moment of their lives. And when she needed him the most, Joe made Grazia's well-being and care his number one priority. Joe rarely missed an opportunity to see Grazia, eventually earning the title of Papa Joe' from the staff and other visitors of River Park Gardens due to his constant attendance and caring nature. His daily display of strength and love received much recognition. Many expressed how they instantly felt inspired to love Grazia as family, due to the love they felt surrounding her. She spent her final hours sleeping hand in hand with her husband, a true testament to their unbreakable bond. The viewing will take place Monday, December 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. (eulogy at 11:45 a.m.) in the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. The Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 12:00 noon with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. A private family interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Angelo Manfredi, Zack Zaman, Ben Trunzo, John Trunzo, Sam Colosimo and Joe Pasqua. We are forever indebted to Nancy and the ENTIRE staff of River Park Gardens Personal Care Home. From the moment we walked through the front doors, we knew this was a special place full of angels. We are truly blessed to have witnessed such compassionate and exceptional care. We can never thank them enough. She was a member of their family. They are now a part of ours. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Grazia's name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
