PETER LISTER August 15, 1924 - December 5, 2014 On Friday, December 5, 2014, with his loved ones by his side, Dad left us peacefully to join Mom, whom he missed terribly. We will miss him in our lives but are grateful for the time he was with us. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Linda Plexman, Leone Rondeau and Jeff (Glory) Lister; grandchildren, Janelle and Jonathan (Amber) Lister, Carrie-Lynn Plexman and Whitney (Brett) Kornelsen and Kieran Rondeau; and his great-granddaughter Sophia Plexman. His sister Mary Lister and other extended family and friends will also miss him. Peter was predeceased by his loving wife, Gwenyth; father Anton; mother Pauline; brothers, John, William, Jim, Alex, and Steve; sister Kathleen Dietz; grandsons Jamison Lister and Braden Rondeau and son-in-law Bob Rondeau. Peter was born in Tyndall, MB on August 15, 1924. He was the youngest in the family and began his life on the family farm. His father died when he was just 14 years old and he worked hard to help his mother run the farm. Peter joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in August 1943 and was stationed in Yorkshire, England as a member of the Bomber Command. He returned to Tyndall in July of 1946. It was in Tyndall that he met Gwenyth and they were married on July 9, 1949. He was a loving and devoted husband for almost 65 years and found the last seven months very difficult without her. Peter was a very hard-working man and did what he needed, in order to provide for his family. He worked at various jobs over the years, the Steam Plant in East Selkirk, the Rolling Mills in Selkirk, as a mechanic in Tyndall and Selkirk and finally he retired from Lower Fort Garry as the maintenance supervisor. Peter loved his family, cars and hockey. He was a quiet man who believed that any job worth doing was worth doing well. He has passed that lesson on to his children. He will be missed in our lives. We are grateful to the staff and residents at Seine River Retirement Residence for their kindness and friendship to our Dad. We also extend our thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion. A service to celebrate Peter's life will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Little Britain United Church, 5879 Highway 9, Lockport, MB, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice in his name. • Linda, Leone, Jeff and families - my condolences on the loss of your Dad, so soon after the loss of your Mum. We were neighbors for so so many years, and I have fond memories of your parents - they always came over on Christmas eve to celebrate with us after church when you were all grown. They are together now, and will watch over you - you are all in my thoughts and prayers - Darlene - Posted by: Darlene (Marshall) Vokey (friend) on: Dec 10, 2014

  • To The Lister Family: I was so sorry to read of your dad's passing. I was away at the time of your mum's passing and did not hear about her death for some time. It was always a pleasure and a privilege to spend time with your mum and dad. They were both so well regarded at Seine River and because of the number of former neighbours who visited them from the condo up the street, I know they were loved and respected in that community as well. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time. To say that final farewell to one parent is hard enough, but to lose both of them in less than a year is a blow, to say the least. May you find comfort in the many memories that have been created throughout the years. With Deepest Sympathy and Caring Thoughts, Barb Rach - Posted by: Barb Rach (Former employee at Seine River Retirement Residence) on: Dec 08, 2014
