GORDON GOURLAY COX 1924 - 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon on December 6, 2014 at Country Meadows Personal Care Home in Neepawa, Manitoba. Gordon was born May 15, 1924 in Minnitonas, Manitoba to Archie and Caroline (Gourlay) Cox. He grew up on the family farm and worked with his father till he was 25. At that time, he headed North to try his hand at mining, finally settling in Lynn Lake. He worked for 37 years for Sherritt Gordon Mines as an electrician / motor winder. On March 16, 1957, Gordon married the love of his life Joan Sulkers. Gordon kept active in the United Steelworkers of America, the Lions Club and curling. Following his retirement in 1986, Gordon settled in Neepawa, Manitoba, where he could spend his time working on his stamp collection, watching the Blue Jays and keeping up on the world of curling. For many years, he and Joan would travel south to Mesa to escape the cold of winter. They enjoyed their time travelling, including eight trips to Hawaii. He enjoyed keeping up on the adventures of his children and his grandchildren. Gordon was predeceased by his parents, twin James Wesley, and sister Nita. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Joan, children Lorne of Ottawa, ON, Barb (Cliff) Halwas of Dufresne, MB, Dena (Bill) Karlson of Garden Prairie, IL, and grandchildren Clayton, Brittany, Ben, Michael and Ally. Gordon will also be dearly missed by his brothers Cecil (Sharon) and Alvin (Beverly) and their families. He will always be in our hearts and we are forever grateful to have had him in our lives. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Country Meadows Personal Care Home for their care and compassion during Gordon's stay and final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Harvest. Funeral services will held on December 11, 2014 at the Neepawa United Church at 2:00 p.m. White's Funeral Home, Neepawa, MB in care of arrangements. 1-204-476-2848.
