Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDRA (SANDRA) RAMSAY Sandra Ramsay, age 71, of Pinawa, Manitoba, passed away December 6, 2014 in Pinawa Hospital after a short, fierce battle with cancer. Sandra battled this disease and left this world showing amazing strength, courage and grace. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alex, and her parents, Alice and James McAuslane. It brought Sandra great peace knowing that she would be reunited with them again. Sandra has left to mourn her siblings, Irene (John), Allison, and Stuart (Janice), her dear aunt, Janie Hodge, cousin, Marion Hodge, and many other additional beloved relatives and friends in Scotland. She also leaves to mourn her children Frazer (Jen) and Kirsten (Melisse), treasured grandchildren Angelique and Gavin, and great-grandson, Owen. She will be sadly missed by friends, neighbours, as well as members of her church and community. Sandra was born on December 12, 1942 in Scotland. She ventured to the USA and eventually Canada in the 1960s and settled in Pinawa, Manitoba. Sandra found a place to call home and a community to call family in Pinawa. She worked at AECL and absolutely loved her job and her co-workers. She was devoted to her children and family as well as her friends and neighbours spending her time caring, supporting and doing what she could to enhance their lives. You would often find Sandra sipping on her wine, visiting with neighbours, planning her winter vacations or looking for bargains in the stores. Sandra will be remembered as a loving, caring and social person who filled her days with smiles, joy and optimism. We will all miss her love, her smile and her general zest for life. We wish to thank the wonderful, compassionate staff of the Pinawa Hospital for the excellent care and support they gave to Sandra as well as to our family. We also wish to thank Dr. Bruneau and Dr. Papetti for the extraordinary care they provided throughout Sandra's battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. at FW Gilbert School in Pinawa, Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pinawa Health Auxiliary, Box 82, Pinawa, Manitoba R0E 1L0. Sandra, my beautiful friend. You were with me through good times and not so good times. I loved our phone chats, sometimes Kirsten was trying to phone you and the line was often busy or engaged, as they say in the UK! Thank you for the wonderful vacations we had together and all the laughs. You were such a good friend and we shared many secrets. I will never forget you. Love you. - Posted by: Christine Nuttall (Close friend) on: Dec 14, 2014

I never had the pleasure of meeting Sandra in person. I have however come to love and cherish her daughter Kirsten (Kika). She always spoke of her Mom with great love and humour. It takes a great woman to raise such an amazing individual as Kika. I know her family was incredibly important to her and she loved to laugh. My heartfelt condolences go out to the entire Ramsay family. - Posted by: Erica Burgess () on: Dec 11, 2014

I met Sandra around 1957 when she and her family moved to Scotstoun, Glasgow. We became good friends, she was always full of decency. We lost touch for too many years, I was very lucky to be able to re-establish our friendship ten years ago thru Friends reunited. Sandra came to visit us here in California and she had not changed one bit, still just a good person, we were hoping she would come again, we are thankful for the special time I knew her. June and I send our love to her family. - Posted by: Ken Horn (Friend) on: Dec 11, 2014
