  • We will miss Marvin on our block. My children knew him as the man who made the best cookies (the sugar cookies with pink icing and coconut). We were so excited when that tall, lanky man who took frequent walks past our house started walking with a beautiful petite woman beside him who could keep pace, even with his long strides. We will miss that familiar sight. Our deepest sympathies, Edith. - Posted by: Christine and Tony (Neighbours) on: Dec 18, 2014

  • April 28, 2012 Marvin asked me if I wanted to go to Grand Beach to see if the ice was off the lake. Marvin knew the ice cleared off and his real intentions where far different. We sat in on the bottom step in the sand and Marvin pulled out a piece of paper and it was a poem to me. "To my special little lady I love the smile on your pretty face When my day's a little shady You make me better with your embrace You ride next to me on your bike You hold my hand during a walk You have astounding energy when we hike And boy oh boy do you ever love to talk I love spending time with you at the beach As we both lay in the sun You are always within my reach When you are not around, you make it fun You like to drive the quad very fast Any event that we go, you are the first one to come Whatever we do it's such a blast That's how I know you are the one" After reading the poem, I asked to see it. As I was looking at what Marvin had just read to me, Marvin pulled out a small box and asked if I would marry him. I sat there crying so he had to ask again if I would marry him. The sun was very bright and as I looked how it sparked, I said YES - Posted by: Édith FOREST (MON CHER MARI, HUSBAND MARVIN) on: Dec 18, 2014

  • My heart goes out to my mother who lost her best friend.. her life partner.. her husband. I cant begin to explain how much my mom, Oliver, Emery and I will miss Marvin. We are thankful for the years we got to spend with the most positive, patient, generous and kind hearted man but we are sadden that we wont be able to share many more to come. Marvin and my mom complimented one an other perfectly! They both enjoyed outdoor activities such as quadding, camping, hiking, walking and going to the beach. They also loved entertaining guests and they shared many other interests! They were truly perfect for each other. Just like a parent wants the best for their kids, we also want the best for our parents so when my mom met Marvin I felt relieved that she had found someone with so much greatness to offer. I was so excited the day he told me he wanted to marry her. We had so much fun picking out her engagement ring together and I enjoyed helping him write the beautiful poem he read to her on the beach the day he proposed to her. Their wedding will never be forgotten! It really breaks my heart to think that he wont be around to watch Emery and his sister grow up! I tear up every single time! They are going to miss out on knowing one extraordinary person! Marvin, has truly touched many hearts and we will cherish the great memories we have spent together! He was one of a kind, someone to look up to. I loved him very much and he will always remain in my heart! - Posted by: Solange () on: Dec 18, 2014

  • We're heart broken that we've lost our good friend Marvin way too soon. We send our deepest condolences to Edith, Marvin's wife and soulmate, and her family who welcomed Marvin with open arms as well as the entire Wiebe family who we also became close to. He loved organizing dinners and walks along Corydon Avenue and we'd happily join in. He was a very kind and considerate person who we always enjoyed getting together with. He always loved Grand Beach and spending time outdoors and was happy to meet Edith who enjoyed those things as well. We'll never forget how happy they were on their wedding day when we all celebrated their marriage. Marvin will always be remembered by his easy going charm and all the pies, cakes, etc., that he would bake for family and friends. His passing leaves a huge void in our lives and he'll be greatly missed. Rest in peace Marvin. We'll never forget you. - Posted by: Gunther Ponzilius and Giselle Mondor (Friends) on: Dec 18, 2014

  • Marvin was a great neighbor and friend, always helping. Many a times I would be getting ready to go shovel my sidewalks and Marvin was just finishing shoveling them, and many a time when he baked he always brought some over for me. Will miss those cookies. Rest In Peace my Friend. - Posted by: Oksana Foley (Friend ) on: Dec 18, 2014

  • Google... "A good man" and Marvin could be the first 100 hits. It was our pleasure to ride with Marvin in so many MS rides. Ringing in the New Year at the Convention Center will not be the same without you. We were delighted that Marvin found love late in life with Edith. You will be missed by many. Thank you for being a friend. - Posted by: Calvin Miller & Angela Wittmann (Cousin) on: Dec 17, 2014

  • Sending you hugs and my thoughts at this time. When I think of Marvin, I immediately remember how he so graciously opened his door to me & my family at his cabin. Even my oldest son recalls this! For being just a quiet, soft spoken man...he was one of the most generous people I had ever had the chance of meeting in my lifetime. Take care all...gone, but never forgotten. • Our deepest condolences Edith, Solange, Oliver, & Emery. Marvin was a very loving and joyful man. The 4 years that we got to know you were special. We will surely miss the weekends he and Edith would spend at the farm, whether it was quadding, or sitting by a fire, or spending time at the ice shack. Letting Zoé & Mia pull you on a GT tied behind the quad was surely something. The grandkids will also miss seeing "le grand mon oncle" Take care, till you meet again. - Posted by: Lynne & Guy () on: Dec 17, 2014

  • I have known Marvin since 1971. We lived next door. Marvin used to help me on my Milk Route delivering to customers. When we had our first son he baby sat for us. He was always a good worker and a perfect Gentleman. He was very conscientious and inquisitive. We haven't seen him in many years but are very saddened by the news. Our prayers are with all the family. Dale & Fern Hunt - Posted by: Dale Hunt (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2014

My thoughts also go out to his great, supportive sister Karen and brother-in-law, Dave, that I've had the pleasure of meeting a few times. And to Solange - he loved you like you were his own. He spoke highly of you. Edith - he is in a good place and now you will forever have an angel watching over you. I trust that he will protect you and keep walking by your side as he has in the past several years. May he rest in peace. XoX - Posted by: Annette Michaud (Friend) on: Dec 17, 2014

  • Marvin brought laughter and leadership through all the battles of our manufacturing environment. During production meetings, he would surprise all of his peers with homemade cookies, or cake, and on many occasions, he would bring in his waffle iron and serve us breakfast with all the trimmings! He was and is loved by all who worked with him. We have lost a great, kind man. - Posted by: Craig Wallace (Co-worker of 21 years) on: Dec 17, 2014
