MARY ELIZA MACKENZIE (GARVEY) Mary MacKenzie, 84, a longtime resident of East Elmwood, Winnipeg, MB, Canada. She died suddenly of natural causes in residence on December 9, 2014. Mary was born in Inverness Scotland on April 23 1930. In 1957 Mary travelled by ship from Inverness to Canada by herself with her two small children ages one David, and age three Linda. Her travels brought her to Winnipeg where she settled her family. She worked at the Talbot drug store for many years. Then she worked at the Angus Reed law firm before she retired to enjoy her family. After retirement she volunteered as an English educator to immigrants at Elmwood High School. Mary also enjoyed knitting. As a way to give back to her community, Mary knit clothing for dolls that she delivered to a local hospital for children during the holiday season. Mary is survived by daughter Linda MacKenzie and her husband Alex Adaman, and son David MacKenzie and his wife Jacqueline MacKenzie. Mary dearly loved her grandchildren Derek, Garrett, and Travis MacKenzie and Alex's sons Benjamin and Matthew. And also Mary's great-grandchildren Arleigh and Adelina MacKenzie, all of whom survive. Mary is also survived by brother John Garvey and wife Julie, sister Alice and husband Tony Harris, sister Joyce and husband Tom Anderson. Along with many nieces and nephews in Scotland and England. The memorial service to be held at a future date.
