AGNES WYATT (nee READ) Peacefully, Agnes Victoria Wyatt passed away in the afternoon of December 22, 2014 at the Victoria General Hospital at the age of 86. Agnes was predeceased by her parents, Florence and Ernie Read, her youngest brother Douglas Read, and her husband of almost 60 years, Donald Wyatt. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Wyatt of Toronto, her daughter Debbie, and her husband Ron DeBrouwere of Winnipeg, as well as her two favourite people, granddaughters Ashley and Brittany DeBrouwere. She is also survived by her sister June Oliverio of Sault Ste. Marie, and brother Ernie Read, of Toronto. Agnes was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Agnes and Don moved to Winnipeg after Don's retirement from the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department so they may be closer to their granddaughters. Agnes enjoyed the cottage life with her family, having a piece of paradise on Diamond Lake, just north of Sault Ste. Marie. After retiring, Don and Ag moved to Bruce Mines, Ontario and lived in a beautiful home on the shores of Lake Huron. Following their move to Winnipeg, Agnes became very active with the Delmar Seniors Association in their apartment complex at 110 Adamar Road. She cherished the lifelong friendships she established there, and enjoyed participating in the seniors activities, including puzzles, bingo, shuffleboard, and community dinners. Agnes was an extremely gracious and social individual who lived life to the fullest. Her warm smile, quick wit, and cheeky sense of humour lit up any room. Laughter and joy flourished around Agnes. She believed that laughter was the best medicine and never passed up an opportunity to make someone smile. Agnes' family wishes to thank Dr. Cameron Lowden and colleagues for their professional care, Manitoba Home Care Program for allowing her to "age in place", to all the staff of 4B North/Family Medicine at Victoria Hospital for the care and support provided to Agnes and her family, and most importantly to the Delmar Seniors Association for their treasured friendships and support provided to Agnes. A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Agnes' life on Tuesday, December 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Magdalene Church, 3 St. Vital Road. Interment will follow at a later date in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The Winnipeg Humane Society.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Aggie. We have many wonderful memories of Aunt Aggie and Uncle Don. They always made us feel welcome in their home and, after moving out west, they always made a point of visiting us whenever they returned to the Sault. We shared many laughs together. Aunt Aggie was a very special lady who will be sadly missed. Our condolences are sent to Debbie and Sharon and their families. - Posted by: David and Wendy Spurr (nephew) on: Dec 31, 2014
