CECILE NOVOG (neé GUENETTE) Peacefully in the early hours of December 26, 2014, Cecile passed away at Actionmarguerite in St. Boniface. Cecile was predeceased by her beloved husband Victor of 53 years and her eldest son Raymond, and is survived by her daughter Della (Ulysses), son Paul (Odette), daughter-in-law Denise and grandchildren Karen (Daryl), Jean-Paul (Farida), Annette (Tom), Dennis (Kim), David (Elizabeth) and eight great-grandchildren. Cecile was born on July 18, 1916. She grew up on her family's farm in St. Elizabeth, Manitoba and moved to Winnipeg where she met Victor and started a family. After raising three children, Cecile worked various jobs including several years at Eaton's department store in downtown Winnipeg. Mom was a woman of great strength, strong faith and independence who was always there for her family. Her faith sustained her during good times and difficult times. She will be remembered for the many meals she hosted for family and friends over the years, and for her exquisite culinary talents. Cecile was well travelled, including trips to the former Soviet Union, Italy, Portugal and France. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Mom, we said a prayer for you Thursday, Paul and I. And we know God must have heard. We felt the answer in our heart. Although God spoke no words, we asked that He be near you at this time and that he take you in his loving care. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Cathedral, with Father Marcel Carrière officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Cathedral. Longer obituary to follow in Monday's paper.
