ROBERT SMITH February 11, 1942 December 25, 2014 Peacefully on December 25, 2014 at Concordia Place, Bob Smith passed away. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Pat. Also mourning his loss are his children Laurie (Alana) and Jackie (Trevor). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jamie and Declan Smith and Calli Neumann. They were the apple of his eye. He was a man with a great sense of humour. He loved people and took great pride in all the activities in his life, from coaching his kids in hockey and ringette to starting and playing the the Crestview Men's Fastball league. His first love though was curling. He was the president of the Assiniboine Curling Club from 1974 to 1975. He loved coming from a large family and all the fun that would come from the gatherings. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or even just take your loved ones out to a comedy club, funny movie or play a game of catch. • Pat and Family, We offer our deepest condolences and are sorry we can't be near to offer our support. Bob was truly a special friend and neighbour and we have wonderful memories of our time together on Normandy Drive. He was a friend to all and the kids loved Bob. Always the first to lend a helping hand, tools and even a "ski jacket" when needed. Oh how he loved to laugh and party with the ball team. Thanks for bringing the Whole Smith Family into our lives. RIP Bob. - Posted by: Cam and Cathy (former neighbours on Normandy Drive) on: Jan 02, 2015

  • So very sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I had the pleasure of golfing with Bob and a group of characters twice a week over the years at Sandy Hook. • Bob "Slip" Smith & I were associated for many years through curling & fastball. He was a fun-loving, positive person & an asset to have on your team, no matter the sport, win or lose. He was a great team player. Slip curled third for our team in 1985. We almost won the Tankard that year. No matter the time, place, day or night, whenever Slip we asked how he was, he always would answer "Perfect". And that was the kind of guy he was, Perfect. Although we were not in touch with Slip that often of late, he was always in our thoughts & will be greatly missed. Our condolences go to Pat, Laurie, Jackie & their families. - Posted by: Kathy & The Colonel (Friend & Team Mate) on: Dec 31, 2014

  • Mr. Smith was always a pleasant mild mannered gentleman. Through my care for him I never once saw his demeanor change. He was a pleasure to care for. - Posted by: Caregiver () on: Dec 30, 2014

  • Dear Pat, Laurie & Jackie.....so very sorry for your loss! Bob was a great guy; terrific smile along with his wonderful sense of humour. Sincere Condolences....Judy - Posted by: Judy Lange (Former neighbour) on: Dec 29, 2014

  • I always enjoyed working with Bob, his laugh and usually helpful opinions helped me often with tasks at work. I say usually helpful as sometimes even though his opinion made sense or he just set me straight on a few things after having time to contemplate he was usually right. So did miss him when he retired. Sad sometimes how twists and turns in life don't necessarily work the way we hoped in retirement but know Bob was often thought of. I wish the family well in the days ahead. - Posted by: Judy greenslade (Co worker at MTS) on: Dec 29, 2014
