Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS EDNA CLARK (nee RUSK) Phyllis Edna Clark passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie, MB. She was born on February 6, 1924 to parents Robert and Ellen Rusk at Harcus, MB. Shortly after, the family moved to Amaranth. She took all of her schooling there and after graduation she took a Permit Teaching course and taught for one year in the Gladstone area. She then worked in Winnipeg at Canada Safeway. Amaranth was calling her back and she married John Clark on August 7, 1947. After marriage they both worked in Clarks family business store. They then ventured out and bought their own business and operated their garage (Clarks G.M.C. Dealership) full service, so Phyllis worked in their business, mainly as the bookkeeper and a runner for parts, cars, trucks, etc. Her husband John passed away suddenly Christmas day 1975. She hired help and continued running the business a few years after his passing. She sold the business and the house beside it and purchased a home in Portage la Prairie, MB. She lived there until July 2009 due to declining health and having to sell. She was in hospital a short time and in October 2009 moved into the Lions Prairie Manor; four years on Walker Road, then over last year on Parkside Lane. Predeceased by her husband John; parents; in-laws; grandparents; siblings Rita (Henry) Kruetzer; brother Alex; sisters Jean (Stanley) Anderson, Hariet (Ed) Post; brother-in-law Harvey Asham; Clark family brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by siblings Bill (Erma) Rusk; sisters Caroline (Ivan) Fitzsimmons, Helen (Rusk) Asham; many nieces, nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews, and having never had any children, she enjoyed spending time with them. Her favourite pastime was driving in the countryside, dancing, going on trips to Australia - New Zealand to see family, trips to the United States, and especially gambling ones, bingo, cards, her ladies bowling league, shuffleboard tournaments, and had many bowling and shuffleboard trophies she was proud of. She enjoyed going to the Legion which she was a member. Many thanks from the family to all staff on Walker Road and Parkside for the care on both wards she received, certainly appreciated by all of us. Phyllis had requested cremation, no formal service and her wishes to be buried in her husband's plot at Amaranth Cemetery. Should friends so desire donations may be made to the Lions Prairie Manor Foundation Inc., 24 9th St. S.E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3V4.
