  • My sincere condolences to Mrs. Dixon's family. I had the privilege to be one of her students at Red River in the '60's. She was my home room teacher. She was very structured in her approach to English and it was always a pleasure to attend her classes. I can truthfully say that she had quite an influence on me and the job I hold today as an admin, assistant allows me to use many of the things that she taught me. With special thoughts of you all, may she rest in peace. Sincerely, Margaret (Johnston) Eastley - Posted by: Margaret Eastley (Former Student at Red River) on: Jan 05, 2015

  • I met Joyce 32 years ago at Eaton Place. She started to visit the Salon where I worked at that time and I was lucky to get her as my client. I was a little shy then and my English was not great so she corrected a lot of my words and little by little my lenguage improved. We became friends she was a wonderful and loyal person. I will really miss her. Our sincere condolences to Bill and Family. The Carrasco's Family - Posted by: Ana Carrasco (Friend) on: Jan 05, 2015

  • I never had the privilege to meet Joyce but I did have a nice visit with her mother Florence in the late 90s when she was still living on the hill.My father was Herbert's first cousin. We were the Rutledges' from Portage la Prairie. My grandfather James Thompson was a nephew of Edward Rutledge(died 1914).Edward married Caroline Rush in 1870 in Ontario. This family had so many heartbreaks and were able to go on every time.My father Clarence Rutledge used to talk about the Rutledge garage in Neepawa all the time. I am so sorry for your loss. She was much too young to leave thid earth. Should any of the family wish to knoe more about the Rutledges'and their history in Manitoba, Ontario and Fermanagh, please let me know. My thoughts are with you at this time.My phone number is 204-489-9880. Sincerely, Myrna Mackey (Rutledge) - Posted by: Myrna Mackey Rutledge (second cousin) on: Jan 03, 2015

  • I recognized Mrs. Dixon's picture immediately. She still looked the same as when I was her student in the 60s. Thanks to her "English" teaching, I was able to go on to teach my own students. She was strict, and made us learn. I will always remember that she wore beautiful rings that she changed every day. My sincere condolences to her family and friends.
