GREG CHAPMAN It is with great sorrow and sadness in our hearts that we have to announce the passing of Greg Chapman on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, who was a most-loved husband, stepfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Greg joins his parents, Chip and Joey, grandmothers, grandfathers, and many of his relatives and friends in Heaven where there is no suffering and no pain. Greg leaves behind a loving wife, Sheryl; two stepdaughters, Noelle and Ashley; his furbabies, Frodo, Lola and Zoey; sisters Chris, Jackie (Gerry), Tannis (Brock), nephew Cole as well as many relatives and friends. Greg was a kind person who loved his family, his beloved furbabies and cherished his friends. If you needed something done and he could do it, he was right there to help. To those of us who knew Greg, you know one of his favourite pastimes was to engage in a lively debate and discussion. He loved life, travelled the world to many counties such as Asia, Europe and the USA, and accomplished a lot in his short life. Greg had many passions. One of his passions was his job. Greg worked at Boeing Canada as an NC Programmer - a job which he loved and took great pride in. Greg started his career at Boeing sweeping floors and worked his way up to the job he held. Greg also loved to cook for his family and friends. He couldn't wait to bring you into the kitchen to smell the roast in the oven and taste the gravy. Greg had a live-long love of aviation that started at an early age. He'd spend hours putting together model airplanes and learned to fly a plane in his early 20s. In most recent years, Greg enjoyed the RC plane hobby. Greg felt very fortunate and grateful to have met and married Sheryl. He loved to take her on vacation to such places as Hawaii, San Diego, Phoenix and Las Vegas where he had the chance to treat her like the princess that she was to him. To Dude, Steve Hamilton, Gerry Searcy, Steve Wade and Brock Taylor - Greg often said he could not have had better friends and if he could have had a brother, he could not have have asked for better brothers to have. Greg also had a special place in his heart for his only nephew, Cole. The family would especially like to thank Darren James for his friendship and support. Thanks also to the members of the Fire and Paramedic Service for their assistance. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Wednesday, January 7 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can kindly be made in Greg's memory to Craig Street Cats or The Winnipeg Pet Rescue. Greg was loved by many and will be sadly missed. Til we meet again .... www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

Condolences & Memories (16 entries)

  • I meet Greg while working in Taiwan together back in 2000. We became friends while over there and traveled together to several different countries during holidays. He was an excellent NC programmer and a good friend who you could depend on to do the right thing. R.I.P. Greg - Posted by: Richard Bulcken (Friend ) on: Aug 24, 2016

  • I worked with Greg at Boeing on the shop floor and then in ME. He had a great sense of humor and was always up for some fun or a joke. So very sorry to hear of his passing. - Posted by: Mike Bielert (Former co-worker at Boeing) on: Jan 25, 2015

  • So sad to hear of Greg's passing. Greg was such a generous and fun guy. He always had an infectious exuberance about him that made you smile. I think back to the time he showed me the real jet engine that he had in the trunk of his car. It was a miniature version of course, for a future RC aeroplane project, but it was a real jet engine! Or driving around in his car listening to ACDC cranked on his mega stereo - when we were both in our 40s! He was a fun guy who never wanted to grow up and be boring like most old people. If it's true that he who has the most toys wins - then Greg won. RIP Greg! Good times. - Posted by: Dave Bissonnette (Friend) on: Jan 15, 2015

  • We loved having you dog-sit us Uncle Greg, sorry for all the food stealing, and the many trips to the doggie door when your movies were on, and taking up all the real estate on your side of the bed. But thanks forever for the roast beef bones, and especially your kindness when taking care of us. We will miss you and always love you. Till we meet again. - Posted by: Rocco and Radar (Sister's dogs) on: Jan 13, 2015

  • When I shared the news of Greg's passing with some of his many NC Programming friends all of them had some fond memory or story to tell. Greg was a friendly, generous guy with a great sense of humor and touched the lives of many people. He will be missed and remembered by all that knew him. I spoke with Greg a few days before his passing. As most know Greg had struggled with some very difficult medical problems. He expressed his optimism that 2015 would be a better year and hoped for some relief from his problems. As usual, and without prompting, Greg spoke of his wonderful wife Sheryl, his stepdaughters, his sister and other family. He truly felt blessed for all they did for him. His family and all of his friends will miss him, he was one of the good ones. - Posted by: Steve Wade (Friend) on: Jan 08, 2015

The outpouring of sympathy and offers to help have been truly helpful and we appreciate everyone who has come forward. Greg would be pleased as well as humbled by the love being sent everyone's way. • I met Greg almost 9 years ago whilst working in Brussels. Such a great guy. The room would light up when he entered. He told stories and warmed everybody with his laugh.
