MARIETTA ZOE BOCKSTAEL (nee BOONE) 1921 - 2015 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Marietta on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Actionmarguerite Tache Centre. At the age of 93, she left our world peacefully and surrounded by family. She will be deeply missed by Robert, her husband of almost 71 years, her daughters Roberta Dick and Sheila, sons David (Jackie), Larry (Irene) and John (Monique); 15 grandchildren: Kevin (Rebecca), Cathy (Ifti), Trevor (Jodi), Greg (Lindsie), Michael (Suzanne), Erika, Erin (Jean-Luc), Alison, Jeffrey, Andrew (Nikki), Nicholas (Stephanie), Daniel (Laneil), Sarah (Tom), Sandra and Cameron, and 12 great-grandchildren. Marietta was born on April 22, 1921 and lived in St. Boniface until her parents Oscar and Euphrasie Boone took over Atlantic Dairy and later started a dairy farm in St. Vital. She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Knockaert, and her brothers Frank, Joseph, Charles and Marcel Boone. She leaves two sisters-in-law, Margaret and Leona Boone, her first niece, Jeannette Goodridge, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marietta was a tremendous homemaker, mother and grandparent. She was gifted with a great number of practical abilities and was a really reputable hostess. She nurtured everyone's heart and soul through her caring ways. Her family and friends always enjoyed her feisty sense of humour and famous baking. The family would like to give special thanks to the personnel at Actionmarguerite Tache Centre. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 15 at Cathedrale de Saint-Boniface, 190 avenue de la Cathedrale at 11:00 a.m. Funeral mass will be preceded by viewing at 10:30 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Actionmarguerite Tache Centre, 204-233-3692.

  • Dear Uncle Robert, and my cousins. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. It is always so hard to say goodbye. Auntie Marietta was such a breath of fresh air. Whenever I saw her at family functions, she was always so thoughtful and kind. She reminds me alot of my father, her baby brother. Dad thought so highly of his sister, and he loved her dearly. In the days ahead, I pray that you find peace and joy, in knowing that your wife and mother was a big part of God's work on earth in how she lived her life. Have a wonderful time together honoring her and the wonderful memories that you will cherish forever.
