HAZEL DOREEN MILLER-IGNITI (nee TYNDALL) 1921 2015 Hazel, also known as Doreen or Dean, passed away early Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Concordia Hospital. Her energy will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Her hard, elegant, beautiful life was lived to the fullest! Hazel Doreen was born to the world August 13, 1921 to her proud parents Vera and Joseph Tyndall. Doreen was raised and grew up in Portage la Prairie, along with her brother Keith and sister Thelma. Her youngest brother Rick was soon to follow and made it his life's mission to ruthlessly torment his oldest sibling He knew she could take it and dish it out as well. As the years passed into young adulthood, she decided to enter the workforce, a teenager in the "dirty thirties", she left the prairies for Montreal. Doreen worked hard for a variety of employers there and met and married William Sylvester. Together they had twins, Jessie and Johnathon. Johnathon passed away less than a week old and William was lost at sea during the Second World War. Widowed with a baby daughter she met Peter Miller and together they made a nice life in Red Lake ON, where their son John was born. Jessie and John were raised in Red Lake and that's where the love of her life Rene Igniti came on the scene. Together in Winnipeg, Doreen and Rene had a son Mario. Along the way Doreen continued to work hard, both professionally and at home. She always did her best and her work ethic is heavily ingrained in her children. Irreverent, effervescent, unique Her love of sports and life was not only passed on to her children, but her grandchildren as well. Her exuberance for life was unmatched. She was a battler yet she always had time for people, people she loved and people she didn't know, she made time for. Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Jessie Matikka, sons John Miller (Bonnie), and Mario Igniti (Sherryl). She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Marni, Mark, Zachary, Travis, Kira, and Caitlyn, great-grandchildren Randi and Xander and great-great-granddaughter Cali. Also left to carry her memory are her sister Thelma Hannah and her little brother Rick Donley, and many nieces, nephews and dear cousins. Mom also leaves many friends that she has come to know and love. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Omega Funeral Home, 83 Royal Road South in Portage la Prairie, MB. Reception will follow. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff at Tuxedo Villa for all the love shown to Hazel. Mom will be missed sadly, yet fondly, and vividly remembered for who she truly was. A unique, beautiful, talented, fun loving, caring, bundle of love.
