ALBERT TITLEY With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Albert Titley, on January 14, 2015 with his family by his side, at the age of 82. Dad was predeceased by his wife Grace, our mom and the love of his life, in 1999. He is survived by sons George (Lisa), Bob (Wendy), John (Heather), Tim (Nicole); 10 grandchildren: John, Paul, Dale, Paul, Brad, Scott, Valerie, Andrew, Josie and Janelle, and his sister Florence. Dad was born on April 7, 1932 into a family of eight children, youngest son to Alexander and Mary Ellen. He left school at an early age to help provide for the family. In 1954 Dad and Mom were married and together raised their four sons in Transcona. Dad always worked two jobs to support his family and spent many years at Winnipeg Hydro. He was generous to a fault, always volunteering to help neighbours and the community...especially when there were trees to be felled! He was a hockey coach/manager. At one point he was a top Manitoba scorer in shuffleboard. Dad was a wrestling enthusiast and an ardent dog lover, spoiling Sparky, Buddy, Bandit, and Perky. The family spent many happy years camping at Toniata Beach, eventually buying a cabin at Hillside Beach, where he became affectionately known as "The Mayor of Hillside". We would like to thank his extended Hillside family, especially the fifth Beatle, Phil and wife Izzy Marion, who were there for Dad when we couldn't be; as well thanks to Abe and Rosemary Auch, Jeff and Cathy Jones, and Gary and Janet Holmes. His last home was at River East Personal Care Home, where he formed special friendships with Margaret and Tom as well as the friendly staff. We would like to thank Dr. Sawchuk and the staff at Concordia who cared for Dad in his last days. Flowers are graciously declined. If desired, a donation in his memory can be made to the Salvation Army or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home, 1800 Day St., followed by a reception. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private interment with family at a later date. Funeral Arrangements in Care of Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematorium 1800 Day Street 204-224-1525

  • My deepest sympathies to all of the family. Growing up beside Mr. Titley was something special, he always made time to talk in the his heated garage to any of us in the neighborhood. I spent many a day just shooting the poop with him or working on many projects that he always had on the go. I am sad I was not able to say goodbye as I was out of town. George, Bob, John, Tim, your dad was a great man who will not be forgotten. I hope you and your families are all doing well. - Posted by: Paul Dureault (Old Neighbor and Friend ) on: Feb 04, 2015

  • Our sincerest condolences to your family. Albert came to River East PCH shortly after our mom. It was quickly that they became friends, sharing the daily SUN newspaper and Albert taking care of her Raggedy Anne doll. Albert always stopped by mom's room when we were visiting to say hello, and keep us up to date on the daily happenings within the home. We always greeted him with a hug and kiss on the cheek. He proudly talked about his children, his Hillside home and his days at Hydro. When we brought our dogs to visit, he always had a smile and many pats for them. We are very saddened for your loss. For the time we knew him, he was friendly, caring, and made us laugh every time we saw him. His presence and his smile will truly be missed. - Posted by: Lori Fabas-Martin (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2015

  • Our condolences to your family. While we did not know your Dad for long, he was very kind to us as we began our build on Pelican Bay, Hillside Beach. He often wandered over or drove by, stopping to see our progress and offer words of support. We like to think that he was happy that another family was moving into the "neighbourhood"! Best wishes to your family. - Posted by: Ruth & Cliff Armstrong (Neighbor's at Hillside Beach) on: Jan 25, 2015
