We announce the peaceful passing of Louis the evening of January 14, 2015 with his son Kelly at his side. I will never forget the first time I met Lou. It was at the September Long Weekend Annual Horse Shoe Tournament at Netley Resorts (then called Forall Campground) back in 1990. Lou rode up on his bicycle with a bottle of beer in a can holder strapped on the handlebars and introduced himself (my 1st thought was oh my lord) as we were paired up as partners for the event. We did amazingly well coming in 2nd place in the final, considering the amount of alcohol that is consumed at that event. From that point on I knew I had made a friend for life. Lou you will be sadly missed by all of us at Netley. I know I'll think of you every time I throw dingo balls at the lake. Rest in peace my friend, till we meet again. - Posted by: Gracie Todd (Friend) on: Jan 22, 2015

Lou is a very dear friend of ours. We were his neighbors at the lake for many years and that friendship continued in Winnipeg. Lou loved to have people around and was always very warm and welcoming. He always had a smile and a hello for everyone. He would come to check on me (Lynn) if he hadn't seen me for a while at the lake and he always had Dave's special beer chilling because it was always "5 o'clock somewhere". If there was music, Lou would dance all night. I had many dances with him. During the winter months we would get together with him for supper before he left for Arizona and we always had to go back to his place for "a drink". He had a wonderful visit with Kelly, Elizabeth and Katherine and had tons of pictures to show us when he got back. We are so happy and thankful that we got to spend the evening with Lou the night before he left for Arizona. We went out for supper and then back to his place for a wonderful evening. We will miss him dearly. He was a very special person to us and we love him very much. Our deepest condolences to his family. Uncle Lou was a great man. I remember going to winnipeg as a child and visiting Uncle Lou and Aunt Faye and going to Petersfield and fishing. They are some of my fondest memories as a child and family vacations. As an adult they both visited me while I lived in California and I thoroughly enjoyed their visits. I will miss them both. My condolences to Kelly and his family, I am so glad that you were there with him. Also my condolences to Maureen and her family. - Posted by: Melanie Lybbert (Niece (Norma's Daughter)) on: Jan 22, 2015

I was very saddened to hear of Uncle Louis passing. I remember how good it was to see him, when he and Faye joined us all at Donna's wedding. I also have some great memories of him from my boyhood. He was the last surviving sibling of my dad's family. Rest in peace Uncle Louis. Gary - Posted by: Gary Bertrand (Nephew) on: Jan 22, 2015

Lou is my best friend's father and a friend to me. I remember all the laughs and good times we had with him. I can still hear that laugh and see that smile he had. He took us fishing in Petersfield a few times, that sure was fun, had a few great games of crib, hanging out with him at his home, taking his car for a few rides. He was a down to earth type of man. I last seen Lou he was walking around St.V mall, stopped and had a good chat, then he had to go and get his exercise, he said the ladies sure are cute here, it makes walking around much easier... that's the Lou I know. You will be missed and you have a place in my heart Lou. - Posted by: Guy Peloquin (Friend ) on: Jan 21, 2015

We had the privilege of meeting Lou last year, after buying a trailer at Netley Creek on the same road as him. What a wonderful man, always smiling and inviting us for a beer and wine and getting to sit by his "bathtub" (firepit). He taught me the ins and outs for the card game 31! A random memory - attending the Braun's wedding and dancing the night away with Lou, after prewarning him I (Shauna) didn't know how to follow and tend to lead. Potlucks won't be the same without you and your famous garlic shrimp. You will be dearly missed by all of us out there. - Posted by: Shauna and John Murray (friends from the lake) on: Jan 21, 2015

My deepest sympathy goes out to Lou's family. Many memories of your father and grandfather. He was best man at my and late husband Raymond's wedding almost 50 years ago. Although I have not seen or been in contact with Lou for many years, he is fondly remembered. God Bless. - Posted by: Sheila Ouellette (friend) on: Jan 21, 2015

Lou was a great friend to us and one of our closest neighbors at the lake. He was always there with a friendly wave when we'd arrive and we'd be barely out of the truck and unloaded before he was saying, "It's time for you to come over for a beer". We spent many evenings sitting by "the bathtub" (Lou's firepit) sharing some drinks and always many, many laughs. We also shared a lot of meals, numerous cribbage games, and of course countless games of "dingle balls" where Lou was always tickled pink when he'd make a great throw. We'll miss so many things about our dear friend, including the infamous "Lou scowl"! Lou, things just won't be the same for us with you gone and you'll be forever missed...
