J. BARRY CRACKSTON 1945 2015 On Sunday, January 18, 2015, with his wife by his side, Barry passed away peacefully at the age of 69. Barry will be missed by Pat, his wife of 45 years, and son Colin. He was predeceased by his father Stan Crackston (1960), stepfather Don Smith (1981), and mother Ruth Smith (2001). Barry grew up in Fort Rouge and attended Churchill High School. He started working at the MLCC in 1965 and worked his way up in the ranks, retiring in 2004 after 39 years of service. This is where he met Pat, and they married in 1969. Barry was an active member of Ducks Unlimited Winnipeg South Committee for over 25 years. He loved the cottage at Brereton Lake where he also enjoyed golfing in the summer, and snowmobiling in the winter. He appreciated the many friendships made over the years. Barry had a great work ethic, and was very organized. He made a job list and kept busy building and repairing, in a neat and orderly manner. We would like to extend a special thank you to all our friends and family for their support, as well as the incredible staff at the Health Sciences Centre, for the excellent care and kindness given to Barry, and Pat, during his stay. In keeping with Barry's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715

  • I met Barry through my uncle Neil about 20 years while they were duck hunting at their place at Libau. It seemed Neil and Barry were inseparable as friends and hunting partners. As the youngster of the area I would always enjoy walking over to their cabin on the Friday evening before the Saturday morning hunt and having a visit with Barry and Neil. Being new to the sport I was like a sponge, listening in on their hunting stories and anecdotes. After hunting with my father or my uncle Bill in the morning, I would make sure that I stopped by to see how they did on the morning hunt and to compare notes. I am sorry to hear of his passing, he will be missed. - Posted by: Chris Benson () on: Jan 29, 2015

His ready smile, motivation and enthusiasm were always evident and transferred to those around him. He was a pleasure to work with in the planning of their annual Ducks Unlimited banquet.
