EVELYN BELCHER (nee Merrick) "PurpleBlue Bell Flower" Aushouskou Shinoongigun Waabigwan With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing on to the Spirit World of Evelyn Belcher on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the age of 74. Evelyn was predeceased by her children Wanda, Joann, and Donald Smith, husband Frank Smith; parents Angus Merrick CM and Flora Merrick; sisters Myrtle Richard and Dolly Pashe; brothers Max, Frank, Louis, Mervin, Morris, Manus Merrick and two infant siblings. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Lisa of Brandon and son Dale of Red Deer AB; grandsons Colby and Josey, great-granddaughter; former husband Doug; sisters Grace Daniels of Long Plain, Joyce Olson of Sioux Valley, Winona (Klaus) Techentin of Calgary AB, Carol Merrick, Shirley (Roger) Herman, Ralph (Florence) Merrick all of Long Plain and Memory (Wayne) Merrick of Swan Lake MB along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. Evelyn loved all kinds of flowers and grew many in her garden. She enjoyed sewing and taught herself to make star blankets. She also enjoyed cooking and created her own catering home business. Evelyn always had a love for children and perhaps as a result of losing her three little ones, she always gave much love and was interested in what her nieces and nephews were doing. Evelyn belonged to Compassionate Friends and she gave back to her community by working with the SE Child and Family Services and the DOTC Child and Family Services. Traditional Wake services have taken place.
