ELAINE DOROTHY MOLINSKI
Date of Passing: Jan 25, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELAINE DOROTHY MOLINSKI It is with great sorrow we announce the sudden passing of Elaine Dorothy Molinski on Sunday, January 25, 2015. She is survived by her husband Tom, her parents Dorothy and Ken Langridge, her brother Jim (Evelyn, Ryan and Amy), her brother-in-law Eddie (Judi and Deanne, Adam, Ava and Alyssa) and numerous cousins here in Winnipeg and England. Her loyalty to her friends and co-workers has been underscored by the outpouring of grief expressed by those both closest to her and those she worked with day to day at the Health Sciences Centre. She was born May 15, 1956 in Winnipeg, Manitoba at the old Grace General Hospital. Her schooling began at Chapman School in Charleswood, later at Royal School for Junior High School which was followed by High School at Tuxedo Shaftesbury where she graduated in 1974. She went on to study at Red River Community College in Secretarial Sciences, graduating in 1976. There she continued to meet more life-long friends. In 1977 she met Tom at a social gathering of young people. After dating for five years (Elaine wanted to be sure Tom was the one), they were married in 1982 and they have happily lived in Charleswood their entire married lives. Her extra-curricular activities included Job's Daughters, where she ultimately became Queen in 1976. She had an affiliation with the Royal Canadian Legion which she pursued long into her adult life. An allergy to animals cut short a love of horseback riding. She also enjoyed tennis, curling, downhill skiing, bocce ball, and bike riding with her loving husband Tom. She loved pursuing a stained glass hobby throughout her adult life in her basement studio. Many of her family and friends have relished her stained glass creations. Elaine was an avid reader and has read well over 2500 books in her lifetime. She had a life-long love affair with shoes and jewellery, which manifested itself in a large collection of both and led to many adventurous shopping expeditions with her best buddies. Elaine's love of flowers was known to all who visited her home in summertime, where her patio and garden were adorned by her plantings every spring. She would often relax in the gazebo and read or watch the squirrels and racoons play nearby. Elaine and Tom went on many adventures travelling abroad and both shared a love of history and photography. She especially enjoyed several trips to England to see family and the wonderful historical sites. Her work lead her through many departments at the Health Sciences Centre where she worked as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Nursing, Educational Services and then ultimately with Volunteer Services, a position which she greatly loved. We are all in disbelief at her sudden departure from this world, and a life so filled with promise and devotion to her husband, family and friends. The family would like to thank the Winnipeg Ambulance Service, as well as Dr. Tom Bowman and Nurse Glenda at the Grace General Hospital Emergency Department for their kind service and assistance. A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. A private interment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, and in honour of Elaine, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. "We love you and will miss you Elaine and you will live on in our hearts forever"

I first met Elaine when we both joined Job's Daughters in the early '70's. I was her Senior Princess during her term as Honoured Queen, and she installed me as Honoured Queen for my term, also in 1976. After a number of years apart, we reunited at a BBQ one summer, and remained in touch ever since. Our "dinner and a movie" evenings were always fun - good conversation at dinner, and an in-depth dissection of the movie afterward in the parking lot, no matter what the weather! It is so unbelievable she has been taken from us so soon, she will be greatly missed. "Mizpah: May the Lord keep watch between me and thee, while we are absent, one from the other." (Benediction said at the end of each Bethel meeting) - Posted by: Susan Midford (Friend, Past Honoured Queen, Bethel #1) on: Feb 05, 2015

I am very shocked and saddened to hear of Elaine's passing. We used to do stained glass together at Prairie Stained Glass and then had our own club where we would meet and work on projects together. I bumped into her in the last year and quickly caught up on our lives, it was like old times... Faith, Hope and Love and the greatest of these is Love... Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Remember that love is forever...hold on to all the cherished memories you shared. It is a number of years now that I knew Elaine and the occasions that we got together were not as frequent as when we were all groaning about doing another set of 100's in pilates class. Still I will miss the opportunity to catch up again and reminisce and laugh together. Elaine was an integral member of our 'gang'. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. She was taken far too early. - Posted by: Molly Pind (Friend from pilates group) on: Feb 03, 2015

I first met Elaine on one of our many bus trips to Fargo. Those were wild times! I remember a "Weekenders" party at her home. We could later count on seeing Tom and Elaine every year on Boxing Day, when Elaine would usually bring a plate of her wonderful dainties. I'll miss you. - Posted by: Yvonne Hardy (friend) on: Feb 03, 2015

This is hard to say goodbye to someone that had so much more life to live. Elaine was my only Aunt on my Father's side of the family. Her beautiful smile and beautiful eyes lit up the room everywhere she was. She was always kind and loving to me and to my 2 young daughters. She ALWAYS took the time to show she cared. Auntie Elaine was full of love!! Even though I didn't see her too often, I will forever cherish the times we did get to have together. I will miss you Auntie Elaine. - Posted by: Deanne Molinski (Niece) on: Feb 02, 2015

Elaine was my high school friend in Tuxedo Shaftesbury in 1972. We met on the way to school and she took the initiative to talk to me and she was my first Canadian school friend. She knew that I was a foreign student came from Hong Kong and she treated me like one of her family members. She was a great mentor to me, her kindness and caring I can never forget. I left Winnipeg and came back to Hong Kong in 1979, but we still keep in touch by email, text messages and phone calls. Our friendship never stop. In 2006, Elaine and Tom came to Hong Kong for a short visit. It was so great to see them and we have had a good time. Elaine, your spirit of love inspired me. You will live on in my heart and mind forever. - Posted by: Janet Lau (High school friend ) on: Jan 31, 2015

Elaine and I met many years ago at a Pilates class where bonds of friendships were formed amongst several participants and the instructor which long surpassed the classes and lasted over the last decade and half...getting together for dinners and pool parties where conversation would be lively and times spent together precious. Elaine was always fun and the twinkle in her eyes reflected her quick wit and sense of humor. She will be sadly missed and her memory forever cherished by all of us~Our get together will never be quite the same without her! Rest in peace dear friend...much love from us all - Posted by: Ingrid Scham (Friend) on: Jan 31, 2015

We fondly remember many good times shared with Tom and Elaine. Whether travelling to Hawaii, taking turns hosting dinners and parties, Elaine's attention to details made for many memorable events. Elaine loved a good bargain, and had learned expertly how to negotiate with the many Hawaian traders in the market place ~ and has an extensive watch collection from Hawaii to prove it! If one is good...7 more must be better! You will be missed. - Posted by: Tammy & John McNichol (Friends) on: Jan 29, 2015

Elaine was not just a cousin to me, she was a big sister and good friend. I shared so many good memories with her throughout my life. I still have fond memories of being a jr. bridesmaid at her and Tom's wedding. I remember having so much fun and dancing lots. It was really neat that she helped me get ready for my wedding and we took some photos together, just like the day of her wedding. She was Auntie Elaine to my son from the day he was born. I will miss our movie nights, dinners out, concerts, and dare I say shopping trips!! What I will miss the most is laughing so hard until we'd cry. The one regret I have is not telling her how much she meant to me. I never realized until now how bright and warm that her smile always was. That is what I promise to remember forever. - Posted by: Lisa Lewicki (Cousin) on: Jan 29, 2015

Elaine you will be sadly missed at Bocci. Recently Elaine was kind enough to take Wedding photos of our Wedding throughout the night so we could have great memories. Matter of fact our favorite picture is the one that Elaine took. She will always be remembered as it was through her eyes that allows us to remember our special day. Rest in Peace.
