JUDY ZALITACH (nee Debroni) Peacefully, surrounded by her family, our dear Mother and Baba passed away during the evening of January 27, 2015. Mom is survived by her five children and their spouses; Gail (Don), Laurie (Terry), Joyce (Rod), Darren (Janet), Jamie (Wendy), her 12 grandchildren who meant the world to her; Matt, Derek (Krista), Erin (Ryan), Tyler (Laura), Lauren (Steve), Kayli, Brendan, Jill (Christopher), Reid (Jessica), Owen, Ryan and Trent, and her two great-grandchildren Olivia and Logan, who brought her so much joy. She is also survived by sister Elsie Myk (Wes), two brothers John (Eleanore) and Mike (Betty), dear in-laws, John and Jean Zalitach, Ann Zalitach, Frank Dirr and Basil Wilson, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends whom she considered her extended family. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Mike, her two sons Ricky and Joseph, parents Mike and Irene Debroni and her seven sisters and their spouses; Mary (Aime), Anne (Butch), Sylvia (Maynard), Helen, Kathy, Rose and Stella. Mom was born in Melville, Sask. and moved to Winnipeg with her family when she was 16 years old. She was the eighth of 11 children born to Mike and Irene Debroni. Mom met the love of her life at her family home on 169 Manitoba and they were married on October 4, 1952. Mom and Dad celebrated 59 years of marriage before our Dad passed away. Our Mom loved nothing better than to fill her home with love, laughter and people. She was blessed to have so many special people in her life. She could whip up a meal for unexpected company at the drop of a hat, and was most famous for her perogies, peroshke and homemade french fries. She lived her life to the fullest, never missing an opportunity to party or make someone laugh without even trying. She was perfectly imperfect, and the things that drove us crazy will be the things we'll miss the most. We would like to thank all our family and friends for their love, support and dedication to our Mom. A special thank you to Dr. Fotti for not only being her doctor, but her friend. Thank you also to both the Winnipeg and Interlake Palliative Care teams and the wonderful nursing staff at Selkirk Hospital who made her so comfortable during her final days. A Celebration of Judy's life will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo's Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow at Green Acres Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mom's great-niece Hailey to "The Friends of Hailey Foundation" at www.patersonfamily.ca Our house was a home because of you Thanks for all the wonderful memories! We love you and will all miss you dearly! VICHNAYA PAMYAT Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of the arrangements.

I have known Judy for many years, and what a character. She was always ready with a sympathetic ear. She would call me on many occasions to tell me a joke and we would laugh so hard we would have to hang up and try again. We will truly miss her, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. - Posted by: Alice Taylor (Friend) on: Feb 02, 2015

My dad, Darlene and Aunty Judy go to South Beach casino. On the way home Aunty Judy says: " I'm so hungry I could eat a skunks ass!!" My dad, for over a month would break out in bursts of laughter for no apparent reason. I'd ask him what was funny, he'd say Judy.....( I knew) and we would both laugh. Crazy Lady...in the best sort of way. And that was all I needed to say to her each time we talked. "Aunty Judy, you are crazy!"...."Why?" she'd ask. " Cause you are going to talk and something crazy will come out......just wait" And she'd LAUGH. Hard. Like a roar. She cracked me up. I cracked her up. I'll miss ''my little bunyak" And my Dad will keep telling casino stories. - Posted by: Corinne and Frank Dirr (neice/brother-in-law) on: Jan 31, 2015

My deepest sympathies to the family. Judy was one of a kind, and she will be missed deeply. She was like a second mom to me growing up. I remember when Judy would get mad at us and chase us around with the broom, yelling something in Ukrainian, but she wouldn't stay mad long that's the kind of person she was. she always made us laugh and cry she was the best, RIP Judy. My thoughts and prayer are with you all. - Posted by: cheryl colles (friend of the family) on: Jan 31, 2015

Mrs Z was not only a wonderful Mom and Grandmother to her family, she was also a neighborhood mom, who opened her door and her heart to all the neighborhood kids who their kids brought home. I have so many awesome memories of Carmen Ave that I couldn't even begin to share here because there is just not enough room. Her wit and quirky humor will leave you laughing and smiling days and years after you have last seen her. She was a true character, a pure heart, and her passing was devastating to hear. Thank you Mrs Z for all the wonderful memories! XOXO - Posted by: David McDonald (Family Friend) on: Jan 31, 2015

Judy was like the royal flush in poker, the 29 in cribbage and a jackpot bingo in 49 or less. Special and rare, lucky to have and highly prized. Rick and I felt that lucky and thankful to have her regard us like family and be known as Baba Judy to our sons. So many great memories (usually involving food, a fast coffee & a quick game) and classic 'Judy-isms', will always keep us smiling when we think of this most wonderful woman. Rest well 'sweetie pie', God bless. - Posted by: Susan & Rick Washnuk (Friends of family) on: Jan 31, 2015
