HELEN JANZEN Helen Janzen, born April 16, 1922 to Dietrich and Lena ( Bergen ) Janzen, passed away on January 29, 2015. She leaves to mourn nieces and nephews Serene Friesen, Helen Neufeld, Katie (Peter) Dyck, of Winnipeg, Adina (Peter) Neufeld (Oregon), Dieter (Connie) Janzen (Texas), John (Giesela) Janzen (BC), as well as many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, sister Maria (Abram) Neufeld and brother Jacob (Katja) Janzen. Helen worked as a nurse and midwife in Friesland, Paraguay, becoming known to many as "Tante Lena" until moving to Canada where she graduated from Victoria Hospital as an R.N. She led a well traveled life, working in Bolivia for MCC, and also in Loma Plata, and Km. 81 while on leave from nursing at Concordia and Health Sciences Hospitals. Blessings to the nursing care, recreation, and support staff whose gentle kindness made our Tante Lena's stay at Bethania more pleasant. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday February 4, 2015 at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church 570 Sharron Bay with interment at Green Acres Cemetery. Donations in Helen's name may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Bethania Personal Care Home.

I saw her at our 25th nursing reunion and she was the same Helen that I remembered from our nursing class.
