LESLIE FRANK CHILDS December 19, 1926 January 28, 2015 It is with sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Leslie Childs at the age of 88 years. Les treasured his family, son Matthew and daughter-in-law Michelle, his granddaughters Emily and Kaitlyn, his sisters Nedra (John) and Irene, and many nieces and nephews. Les is predeceased by his parents Lewnton and Louisa, his brother Jim and his brother-in-law Brian. Born in Basingstoke, England, Les attended school until 1941 and started work with an engineering firm until he left to join the Royal Air Force. Les immigrated to Canada in 1977 to Thompson, MB where he worked for Inco from 1977 until his retirement. Les was a gentle, kind and quiet man who took every opportunity to spend time with his family. Les was very proud of his son, and his granddaughters brought him great joy. He made sure everyone knew about his family and how important they were to him. Thank you to the many doctors, nurses and aides who helped care for Leslie over the years, including Dr. R. J. Hayward; thank you to those at St. Norbert Personal Care Home who ensured his comfort and happiness the past two years. We miss his smiles, his enthusiasm and support and his special way of letting us know how much he loved us. We love you, miss you greatly and will remember you always. A private interment will take place on February 7, 2015. Chapel Lawn (4000 Portage Avenue) is handling the arrangements.
