NEL (NELLY) HENTELEFF Nel Henteleff died peacefully in her sleep on February 2, 2015. A service will be held at St. John's Cathedral on February 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. A longer obituary to follow.

  • I first met Nel through the MB Lily Society and over many years have shared the love of gardening, Nel's enthusiasm with new plants they had acquired and many cups of tea or coffee at the gardens. I was very blessed to have Nel and Paul attend an awards ceremony at the MB Horticulture Association Conference for which I will be forever grateful to see her one last time.   • Nel was warm and welcoming to me the first moment we met. I am glad to have loved and been loved by her. She led an active and interested life. I was always so impressed by her wish to be involved in so many different things family, church, gardening, music, movies, museums, festivals, travel and more.   • I always admired Nel for her hospitality and her gift of gardening. I have a wonderful memory of coming to Paul and Nel's home for a palliative care staff barbeque. Nel would be in the kitchen cooking up a storm ~ making many zucchini pies and boiling corn. She was so gracious and welcoming. I still have her zucchini pie recipe. I also admire her for her love of her family and her great sense of humor. She told me the story of how she would canoe into the middle of the Whiteshell Lake to wash diapers and leave Paul with the children. Sometimes, she said, the diapers took a long time to wash!!
