MINERVA MARIE COLEMAN (nee MARTIN) On January 21, 2015, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went to the arms of her Heavenly Father. A funeral service was held in Winnipeg January 25, 2015, with interment on January 26, 2015. Minerva was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba April 1, 1935. She was predeceased by Roland, her husband of 47 years, her parents John and Mary Martin (Hiebert); her brother Oliver Martin. She is survived by her brother Wayne Martin (Sheila), her children Tim (Doreen), Mark (Nancy), Karen (David) Traa, Tami (Steve) Reimer; her grandchildren Fiona, Anessa (Vladimir) Stoychev, Carissa, Jabin, Serita; Neil (Brianne), Andrew (Kristen), Cara, Samuel; Teagan and Bentley Reimer; Rachel Traa; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and some lifetime friends who became "family". Minerva loved children of all ages, and began her career as a teacher by attending Normal School at age 18. After just six weeks of learning how to be a teacher, she began her first job as the resident teacher at Oak Bluff Hutterite Colony in Morris, MB. She went back to school later to receive her Teachers Certificate. She later taught at Florence Nightingale School and Zion Christian Academy. After being a stay-at-home mom for many years, Minerva began a second career as a health-care aide with Home Care, We Care, and Bethania Personal Care Home. In between all of that, Minerva enjoyed gardening, crocheting, music, serving in church groups, and visiting seniors to bring them cheer. The family wishes to thank the staff of West Park Manor for their excellent care of Minerva during the last years of her life.
