IRENE MARYANNE SEAMCHUK (nee SEIDA) October 10, 1933 - February 1, 2015 Mom passed away peacefully at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg on February 1, 2015 at the age of 80 years. Mom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children Lorraine Mather (Brian), Greg Seamchuk (Jane), John Seamchuk (Michele), and Cindy Natuik (Ken); her grandsons Scott Mather (Heather), Corey Mather (Amanda), Graeme Mather (Georgette), and Daniel Stuart; her siblings Vicky (George), Walter (Sue), and Agnes; her sisters-in-law Elsie and Leona; her life-long friend Gloria Sech, and her dear friend Vera at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Mom was predeceased by her father Peter Seida; her mother Anna Seida, and her siblings, Albert, Bill, Joe, Katherine, Rose, Gertrude, Betty, Adolph, Edward, Peter and Eleanor. Mom was born in Spring Valley, SK where she grew up on the family farm. As a young woman she moved to Winnipeg to find work, where she met her husband John and started a family. Mom and Dad owned and ran a family restaurant called the Red Rooster. Mom was a passionate cook who took great pride in the running of her restaurant. As a result of her out-going, fun-loving nature, the Red Rooster Restaurant became a well-known social gathering for many businesses and residents in the St. James area. Being a social person, Mom worked at the Star Grill even after her retirement where she made many new friends. She became well-known for her mischievous pranks. She was a loving wife and mother who always placed the needs of her family first. Mom was always supportive and encouraging. She was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her children. One of Mom's greatest gifts was the love we felt throughout our lives. Mom cherished her grandsons. She was a kind, playful grandmother. It was a blessing that her grandsons lived across the street from her which allowed her to develop a close, loving relationship with them. They were a joyous part of her life. She cared for them deeply and became affectionately known to her grandsons and family as "Moosie", Grandma and "Quatchie". Mom struggled with her dementia the last few years that she lived in her own home. Concerned for her personal safety, Mom was moved to the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Mom blossomed there. With the compassionate care and loving attention that the staff gave her, we once again saw the fun-loving mother we always knew. We want to thank the staff for taking such excellent care of our mom. Sadly Mom had a heart attack that took her life very quickly, so we were unable to be by her side before she passed. We are forever grateful to the staff for staying with Mom until she passed. Cremation has taken place with private interment and service to follow at Brookside Cemetery.
