GENEVIVE (SANDRA) NELSON December 25, 1939 - Burbank, California February 13, 2015 - Calgary, Alberta Sandra "San" Nelson of Calgary passed away after a long illness on Friday, February 13, 2015 at the age of 75 years. Sandra was a devoted wife to her first husband Don, by which her first two daughters were born: Sheryl and Sherice. She became an important asset and precious wife to her second husband Jim, and raised their two children, Sheryl and Sherice's brother and sister: Jay and Nicole. Sandra had many passions, including writing and reading, bettering herself through involvement in Toastmasters and her membership in the Writing Guild of Calgary. She loved cats and horses, and collected fine art, decorative plates and figurines, books, crystal...but best of all was her collection of friends spanning two countries and an entire lifetime. Sandra had a magnetic way of making those who just met her instantly like her...to her dying day. Get-togethers and parties at Sandra's house are legend. You arrived feeling like a celebrity and left feeling like family. She was a rare and fun individual with a beautiful spirit. She was much loved and adored by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. San is survived by her children: Sheryl Kauspedas of Denver, CO; Sherice and Martin Karol of Castle Rock, CO, Jacque "Jay" Phillipe Goyette Jr. of Vienna, VA, and Nicole Doucet of Calgary, AB; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Donald Schowengerdt, and second husband James (Jim) Phillipe Goyette. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis & Holloway (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
